We had such a brilliant day out here. We came with limited expectations, wondering what was in store and were just blown away. The Five Sisters zoo is small but perfectly formed and it was easy to do and see everything in one day without feeling like we had run past everything. You can get nice and close to the animals and their enclosures were clean, looked interesting and were easy for adults and kids to see into. You can get even closer to the animals with walk through enclosures and well advertised animal feeding times. They offer the chance for you to pay extra to feed the lima or be a zookeeper for a half day or a day. There was also a nice educational aspect to it with the signage explaining about the plight of their rescued performing bears, conservation work and their fundraising to adopt lions. All in all this was the perfect day trip for us as a family. Which when you consider we are trying to entertain a nine year old and a one year old simultaneously is a pretty mean feat.

Excellent in almost every way. Great variety of animals in fairly sophisticated, large and animal-sensitive enclosures. Lots of opportunities to get closer to the animals with walk-through enclosures and animal feedings. Nice play areas and café. Best of all it’s fairly priced. Parking is free. The only criticism I have is the collection of cheesy garden sculptures slightly detract from the otherwise well-kept grounds. Will visit again.

I prefer this zoo to the bigger contenders such as blair Drummond etc, the entry prices are great value and you can get much closer to the animals. Its a great shame about the fire and the animals which were lost, there is a memorial for these animals on entering the park. I will definitely visit again when the new reptile enclosure is done. Whilst there I saw the most adorable baby marmoset and was almost in tears at the bears which, despite being in a large suitable enclosure, still have not adjusted to life outside the circus and were pacing a lot, such a shame but hopefully having these bears and their story on show will make people much more aware of the mistreatment of animals in the entertainment industry

We’ve just returned from a super visit. Small zoo but plenty to see and a great opportunity to get very close to the animals! Would recommend this for a good value family day out — educational as well as fun.

This zoo is alot smaller than Edinburgh zoo however it has a great selection of animals without all the queuing and hill climbing. It’s a good day out for the family and allows you to get up close to animals that you don’t see other places. There is a good soft play area for younger kids and several clubs for older ones. The best reasons to visit are the micropigs which are unbelievable cute. A family ticket costs £18(2 adults, 2 kids) which is reasonable for a day out and there is definatly enough to get your moneys worth.
