As you approach this pub you have second thoughts from the outside but the like saying goes«don’t judge a book by its cover». One of five pubs we have recently visited in this area since my best friend has moved nearby and this one is definitely the best. The Chicken Manchurian, goat curry and the bullet naans were excellent together with the panner, chicken wings and sheesh kebabs to start. All the food was finger licking good. All i could think about was when i ill be returning to sample more of the food and maybe sit in the BBQ room. The service was good from the bar, grill, bbq room and the kitchen, well disciplined, highly recommend the Vine, will be returning very soon.

Was advised by numerous trusted associates that the vine was the place to be. Naturally sceptical as its in Sandwell City centre but gave it a go on the basis of my «trusted allies» I no longer associate, work or have any contact with these people following my visit to the vine, two of which are my own children and the other my mother. It’s a crying shame that the quality of food served here has resulted in my family breaking down.

Suggested by a friend and m glad they did. You can order off a traditional Indian style menu or you can head straight to the BBQ grill. There you can order everything from piri piri chicken to kebabs and chicken. The fresh food is cooked in front of you and then served to your table. Food tastes wonderful, worth a visit!

Absolutely brilliant! Great atmosphere. Very quick service off the menu, haven’t tried the barbecue yet. Beer good(Holden’s). The Malai chicken was excellent — as was the pilau rice and the peshwari naan. Lamb biryani also very good. The lamb was very tender and the curry sauce also perfect. Portions are plenty big enough. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff too and the price was very very good. Will definitely eat there again when in the UK. If you like a really good curry then you have to try The Vine. It’s recently won the Best Curry Pub award too!

Top notch curry, love the open BBQ in the back, good tasty authentic food, huge portions and very reasonable. Attentive, friendly staff. Dont be put off by the location and interior. It’s a shabby Victorian pub and some of the furnitur has come from some sixties café, bright plastic orange seats. If you want a good curry selection, with good beer at a very reasonable price you cannot go wrong. Love taking people here for the first time, they are always blown away by the value for money, standard of food, size of portion and excellent choice. Give it a go

The Vine is an amazing place. AMAZING. From the outside it looks like your typical real ale boozer but as soon as you step inside and get a waft of the food you know you’ve found somewhere a bit special. Head towards the back of the pub and you’ll find an extension(which reminded me a bit of those family rooms you used to get in pubs in the 1980s) — this houses a load of tables, a selection of menu boards(so much choice!) and the BBQ area where they do a selection of tandoori snacks — including massala fish and smoked trout. It’s hard to know where to start with the curries — you can create your own or opt for one of the chef’s specials. There’s also an extensive selection of veggie courses and a good choice of extras. Last time I went I opted for a Sri Lankan curry — primarily because I haven’t had one before and liked the sound of coconut milk and chilli. It was gorgeous — flavoursome and with a kick but not too spicy. The only real complaint I have is the fact that I felt so stuffed afterwards it was quite a struggle walking the 500 yards back to the Metro! They also serve real ales here and Cobra lager. There’s a cashpoint inside and a number of smaller rooms. It’s cheaply priced and the staff are nice.

Upon first approach it’s easy to question your decision to visit this little pub below the motorway. It looks like a terraced house from the outset but as you get through the tiny hallway and you see the traditional pub feel then smell the food you know you’re ok. The staff are super friendly and service is speedy. Weeknights and weekends it’s mainly a traditional Indian BBQ with tasty, spicy, meat platters galore. This BBQ is managed by a different team to the guys that run the pub and you will need to pay them directly with cash but you can still order items from the pub menu. Again these are super cheap, fast and filling. Expect a crowd on West Brom match days and it’s always busy over lunchtimes but well worth it. With cheap English pub grub and delicious curries, you’ll feel you’ve gotten value for money. I’m feeling hungry for their saag paneer as I type this.

The Vine for dinner?! Yes, please!!! Sooo, it’s too bad that I’m working in Birmingham. Otherwise, I’d become a regular here. I came here because Hitesh C. Recommended this place to me. It sounded attractive because I’ve never heard of Indian BBQ. Indian + BBQ are two words I’ve never heard together before. Add«pub» to this equation — UNHEARDOF! Indian BBQ Pub. I don’t think we have that in the states… :( **By the way, I’m not necessarily«into» pubs, but because of the two words preceding pub for this place, I decided that it sounds unique enough! Indian BBQ Pub, here I come! So, what is so great about this place that I’m going to give it 5 stars after just one visit? Ambience: as you can see from the picture I posted, it’s a very comfortable looking place — nothing fancy as it is only a pub! The inside is actually quite large and spacious. There are a total of about 5 or 6 rooms(for seating). The first 3 rooms are tiny to small rooms(between 3 – 6 mini-tables). There are two larger Roos with many tables: 1 large room is located in the pub, whereas the other larger room is where the BBQ roast is. I believe there was a medium sized room as well. Very casual and comfortable place. (Confession! I wanted to take more pics of the place inside to show you guys what it looks like, but … I didn’t want to look like TOO much of a tourist, so I tried to play it cool. Maybe next time I’ll be bold enough. Taking pics of the food … that was a reach for me here! ;) …) Cost: the price is right!!! The two beers we ordered cost 3.20GBP. 2 orders of split roast chicken were just over 5GBP. The cost of curries were 3 – 4GBP. Rice was approximately 1.5GBP. Whatever the prices are now and I’m sure will be … They’re reasonable! Its not outrageous! Food: good. All of it was good. I won’t even try to describe. Shout out to Hitesh C. For the heads up about this place. Absolutely loved it!!!

Dont even think of going when West Brom are playing at home, but if you are nearby at any other time then try and find this gem. There is now a marquee in the back yard(beer garden and smoking area) Food at luchtimes is predominently Indian and is good quality with large portions, and in the evening there is the Indian BBQ which even has people popping in for a takeaway. Most memorable event was overhearing 4 young indian guys saying ‘If Mums food was this good I would still be living at home’ !!

The Vine is a famous indian BBQ pub in brom, not as good as Desi2 but this place is more welcoming. The BBQ is ordered right at the back past the bar.

smallish pub but does nice food for lunch hours at work. has an outside area that is nice for people who want to be away from the rest of the pub. Lots of people seem to use this pub & the staff are very friendly. food is excellent & not expensive.
