A decent town centre pub, situated in a building which once housed Barclays Bank. Has large central bar and a mezzanine level with more tables. It is a cask marque pub and always has three or 4 hand pulled beers and all are kept well. It is an ever changing selection, with some usual suspects, Fullers and Courage, but always has at least one more unusual beer for the area. Today had a pint of Milkwood from Brains Brewery in Cardiff(very nice it was too). It is the best real ale pub in WGC town. IS very popular at lunchtimes for food, which seems to be the usual pub fayre, burgers sandwiches etc.

The Cork is a good lil pub with pretty standard prices(around £2.80 — £3). The pub is well set out with a tabled area and a more open area where you can stand. There’s a large screen for viewing sports events but there is no juke box(that I could find). The food here is alright but it’s very cheap which is good if you want a cheap meal to make sure the beer doesn’t have to great an effect on you. The pub is in a central area whcih means it does get busy on some nights which adds to a great atmosphere. Good pub for a day or night out.

It’s nothing more than your average pub. Situated smack bang in the centre of town, it attracts the good, the bad and the ones that should be locked up. Not the friendliest environment — especially if you’re not from Welywn Garden City but stick to your own and you’ll be fine. Lunches and early evening is fine if you’re into the ultimately average, would recommend going to The Attimore which is much better. Far more civilised, friendlier people and a better atmosphere.
