This is a traditional old man’s boozer. It is sad that it is also one of the very few places like this left in the area as, not so long ago, Greenall Whitley and Tetley Walker dominated the area with some decently drinkable beers. The ‘Vaults has continued to resist unnecessary changes and thus has retained its loyal customer base. It’s not one of my favourite Warrington pubs purely because of the lack of choice — as most know, I am very fond of good, real ales and the ‘Vaults is certainly not known for these, although I have no complaints about the standard of the beers served. The best way to describe the interior is to say that, although regularly cleaned and decorated, it hardly seems to have changed since I moved into the area.1974! In short, if you enjoy, or want to experience, a traditional northern pub of the Twentieth Century, you could do worse than the Adelphi Vaults. Please bear in mind that I drink in places even older, so that is not a complaint!
