We arrived about 1pm on a Friday looking for lunch. The pub was pretty quiet but the landlady was warm and friendly, giving us our menus and helping us select two ciders. The menu looked good and the prices were very reasonable. My wife chose the steak and kidney pudding with a puff pastry crust(delist!) with veggies and lyonnaise potatoes. I had the shepherds pie which was OK but not great. The landlord took over the bar after a while — less sociable, almost unfriendly. All in all a pretty good pub with good British food — 4 stars!
