Just like to say what a brilliant bike shop Highway Cycles are. My family have been buying bikes here for years. Their service department is excellent too. The staff are friendly and very knowledgable. Just purchased a beautiful Scott hybridlovely! Thanks guys.

I live in the next village to Ware and am there quite often, yet I never knew this place existed. It has been there for years, and it shows. From the outside it is a typical 60’s shop-front — the paintwork is old and in need of re-painting, the glass is misty and it is virtually on top of the road with no real pavement to stand on and admire the display. But then there isn’t a display. There’s not much at all, and that’s why I’ve driven past it hundreds of times and not noticed it. Don’t let that put you off though, once inside you will be pleasantly surprised. It is a tiny, local independent shop, with every square inch covered with bikes, and bikes hang from higher racks above you. Plenty of accessories(certainly a better range than in a lot of shops) and VERY friendly staff. I think they’re a father and son team, but I didn’t ask so I couldn’t be sure, they were just far too alike to be anything other though! They are really knowledgeable and will help you make the perfect choice of bike for you, with absolutely no pressure — they’re very careful not to ‘recommend’ a particular bike and I think this is what they maintains their integrity — with other shops I can feel that there is a reason they want to sell you one bike over the other, but not here. The only reason they don’t get 5 stars from me is that as it is such a small shop there is not a wealth of stock on show — they can order stuff in but I’m not sure I could buy a bike without seeing it first. It also makes it hard to get a really good look at a bike as even when they take one out of the rack you can’t step back very far to see it! The service was second to none though, Mrs Bombardier ended up buying her bike here and she didn’t regret it. Their prices are a little higher than some, but for us this was worth it for the service we got. Not only that, after a few weeks you can take your bike back to them and they do a free safety check and mini-service for you. We also got an accessory thrown in for free(we were going to buy it anyway, but he gave it to us for nothing!) so it probably worked out equal to somewhere cheaper anyway. Parking is easy as there is a public car park opposite the shop that is 50p per hour(at the time of writing this) and it’s never been full when I’ve been in there. It is also right next door, and I mean EXACTLY next door to Ware Train Station so it’s incredibly easy to go there. Servicing and repairs are also offered although having not used them I don’t know what their prices are like. I didn’t buy my bike from them(they didn’t have any that I liked that much in there and they couldn’t order the frame size I wanted in one of them as the manufacturer had discontinued it in preparation for 2009 models :-(- but I would have otherwise). I will definitely take it there to get it serviced though.
