Been here several times, hugely popular and rightly so, excellent service both in the restaurant and the take away, good value, yes popular with the over 60’s ask my dad with special offer, good parking also recommend Wetherby Whalers in York, Pudsey and of cause Wetherby!

Now I don’t know if this is a Yorkshire thing, but where I come from, a chippy is not a restaurant. That took me some time to get over… The food was smashing, great fish and chips. Does exactly what it says on the tin. The staff were friendly enough if not a little weird, but it did give my friends and I a topic of conversation. My final thing may offend, and I really hope that it doesnt, here goes. At 24 years old(at time of print), i was the youngest person in the place by a mile! It was like the waiting room to the pearly gates!

This is in my opinion the only place to go for fish and chips in wakefield. I have only ever used the takeaway section but the staff are really friendly and reasonable prices. The fish are probably the biggest i have seen! We have family come and stay from other countries a few times a year and the first thing they want to eat is wetherby whaler fish and chips so they must be good. Going to pick them up can be a bit of a chore due to it being a car ride as they are on a retail park but you get used to it

A great place to go for posh fish and chips! It’s traditional, the staff are friendly and the prices are good, especially for the pensioners deal or the kid’s meal. They also do great desserts — I used to love clown icecream, with sweets, sauce and an upside down cornet as a hat! The menu is quite limited, but that’s what you expect in a fish and chip restaurant, and at least what it does, it does well. It’s not particularly easy to get to without a car, and is a little way out of town, but I’d say it’s worth the journey.
