intu Uxbridge(or the Chimes as it used to and still should be known!) is the best shopping centre in Uxbridge. Mind you, that isn’t saying much as it only needs to be compared to the ageing Pavillions. It is a lot newer — I can remember it being built after I went to school, and it really opened up that entire side of Uxbridge(previously in general terms there just wasn’t as much foot traffic down that side of the town). As it stands today, it is still the better of the two centres and has a much more diverse range of shops — plus it generally doesn’t have much of an issue keeping those shops filled with something. It isn’t huge, certainly nowhere near the size of the Harlequin in Watford(aka intu Watford) but is bigger than St George’s or St Ann’s in Harrow(thankfully not an intu Harrow in sight). My most recent visit was on a trip into Uxbridge on Boxing Day — despite all the crowds, the stores kept it all well organised. Only two stores had massive queues but all the others were still busy. What I mean by this is that the layout is conductive to having a lot of people in there but still not feeling like a crush — there’s no pinch points etc stopping you from getting around.
