Visiting Royal Tunbridge Wells and went into the Bedford for a pint. It was clean and the food looked good so we decided to stay. My wife and I had pulled pork sandwiches for lunch. They were very good and smoked perfectly, I wish they had put on a litle more sauce but, they were very good. We also tried their beers. I had a Turners and my wife had an Old Speckled hen. They too were very good but, we both leaned towards the hen. I wished i had had more time in Royal Tunbridge Wells, I wouldv’e gone back for dinner. THe staff are very knowledgable about the beers and the food. I spoke to the waitress who said that they have quiz nights, live music and other functions during the week that keep things lively. I’ll be back next time we come to Roya Tunbridge Wells.

This pub re-opened under a new tenancy last Friday and me and my partner popped in on Saturday to have a nose. Spoke to the new tenant and really love what he’s done with the place. There is a good selection of real ales as the new tenants run a microbrewery so you can try some of their ales alongside the traditional Greene King Ales. If you are an ale lover check it out. I think this will be a turning point for the Bedford and well worth trying again to see what you think.

Small pub next the Tunbridge Wells station. Nothing special and not a lot going for it really except if you are looking for a quick stop off before heading to Belugas/Davinchi’s or looking for a drink before a train journey. They have live music on occasions, but its more of the dad doing cheesy pop stuff then for a young crowd. Has its own set of regulars and not overly friendly to outsiders but you won’t find it intimidating or anything. Reasonable range of drinks and friendly staff but unfortunately that doesn’t really make up for the lack of character.
