Location, Location, Location! Could there be a better spot for a Premier Inn at an iconic seaside resort? The beach is across the road from the hotel and a ten to fifteen minute stroll gets you into the town along the promenade. Torquay Premier Inn is untypical in that its not purpose built by the chain, rather an older hotel thats been converted, which is perhaps why our room was a little bigger than the norm. All the usual Premier Inn features apply here like super comfy Hypnos beds, free wifi throughout, bar and restaurant on site(Beefeater), and lovely staff. I spotted a guy touching up the hallway paintwork suggesting that there is a bit of a refresh ongoing. That said our room was clean, fresh and the décor was right up to date. We could open the windows, not something you can always do at PI, though I was woken by sound of loud seagulls in the morning one time. Well it is the seaside! We had hoped to make use of the hotel bar on our last night after returning from an evening event. Unfortunately for this Premier Inn the bar closed right on 11pm — about the time we hoped to have a few drinks. Some hotels in this chain keep the bar open for residents, so we were pretty disappointed to end our evening early, and would have stayed in the town if we had known. Forewarned is fore-armed. We’ll know next time. Don’t be put off by the tired exterior paintwork of this hotel. I’m sure they’ll be attending to it soon. Inside its all good! We got an amazing rate midweek late September. Absolute bargain. Recommended. Tip: This hotel has parking for guests only and requires you to register your car’s details at reception on arrival. Car parking in Torquay, especially free car parking, is very much at a premium, so plus points to Premier Inn. We arrived a good few hours before check-in and they were more than happy for us to park up and head into town.
