Went on a celebratory dinner after being recommended the restaurant. Was very disappointed in the meal. Thought the pâté was bland, the plaice special very poor and the steak and ale pie pastry was not cooked. Don’t normally complain but when we did the staff just shrugged their shoulders. Poor experience and not that cheap.

Spent a wonderful afternoon here, friendly staff, lots of space, great garden, good drink selection and food looked amazing! Only issue my friends sandwhich had some soil attached to his salad! Obviously fresh but slightly off putting lol but tbf he didn’t complain so they didn’t know, sweet private booths for al fesco dining for £25 to hire 6 – 8 peeps or 10 – 12 will update once we try this! Oh and very clean tables and loos, lots of beautiful people enjoying the day!

You can always expect good quality, well prepared food here. We went last Friday for a special occasion and had a fab steak with fat, fat chips. It doesn’t cost the earth and they have a good wine list

We visited here last week and I can’t praise it enough. We hadn’t booked and they were extremely busy. The waitress managed to have a shuffle around with the tables and fitted us in. The service was excellent and the waiting staff are real characters. We were made to feel very welcome and not an inconvenience as you unfortunately find all too often these days. Our food was fantastic. I had the fish soup which I can highly recommend. I just had two starters as they looked so good and they certainly were, this request didn’t pose a problem to our lovely waiter. The food was so fresh and tasted home prepared. The only problem was that the main fish course that my son had was not cooked properly. The batter was still slightly gooey inside, credit to the staff this was immediately dealt with. They couldn’t have been more caring. This is a must place to visit and one place that we are looking forward to returning to again. The pub itself is a real find. It’s what I would call a real country pub, so cosy with lovely open fires. There was even an area with a big screen which was showing the rugby at the time. You will not be disappointed with this extensive interesting menu and lovely staff.

Excellent Kent pub set in countryside near Tonbridge. Took a big family group there on a Saturday lunchtime. Wide choice of dishes to consider, children well catered for. There is a small garden at the back for the kids to run around in but will need supervision — there’s a wall and steps. Good beer, great food and attentive service. Rooms are available if you overindulge!
