This Famous pie factory was built in 1856 and has been around for a long times and is bit of a historical Monument in the Black Country, as well a truly awesome family restaurant. The décor visualises an actual factory and has cool features like sawdust on the floor, a bathtub full of coins and coppers… tips perhaps? And also pigs heads (not real) on the walls. Their famous Lumphammer Ales are worth trying. Although pies are the main attraction here, the menu boasts classic dishes like ribs, steaks, burgers, fish and chicken. Starters and desserts available. I opted for the Hen Pecked Pie (chicken and mushroom) which was huge and delicious with my ale. They even do an Andy Murray pie (curry) and Faggot pie. Vegetarian pie option available. The pies are not cheap and are near a tenner however the quality and quantity is certainly there. The famous Desperate Dan pie is the biggest on the menu with pastry horns, giving it the beefy look. I actually somehow managed dessert of sticky toffee pud with custard — the mother of all desserts in my view. Very friendly staff and barman. This attraction is a must to see and the food is good old hearty british grub. I highly recommend it.

This pub is a local legend. The interior is unique with tables made out of butchers blocks. The food was once monumental in its portions and quailty, unfortunatley the Desperate Dan Pie like the Dandy is a pale imitation of its former self as is the rest of the food too. The beer is lacking in quality and is expensive.

I have family in the area of The Pie Factory and was told after travelling over 200 miles a visit was a must. Food is extremely tasty and excellent value for money. All I can say now is thanks for making me crave your battered chips!!! Can’t wait to make the next visit!

I can not believe i used to live one mile from this place and never bothered going. How i regret that decision as the one time I did go i fell in love with the place AND the food! PIES glorious PIES!

Great food let down by poor service and pub filled with kids the parents cant control them .
Walked in at 5.30 and after standing at the bar for ages got served. wanted to eat and every table had a reserved ticket on even though the pub was empty. Asked the barstaff if there was a table free and after checking some tables wern’t needed till 8.30.why reserve them at 5.30.Table next to us had kids with iphones, psp going bleep sodding bleep all through meal.
Great food when it arrived but treated like an inconvenience when trying to get a table.
Last time we ate there i booked a table for around 15 of us a week before. The girl taking the booking wanted to know what food we were going to order!!! how the hell do i know what i want to eat a week in advance.

The pies are great tasting good old English pies. This place is a must for anyone who likes pies or who hasn’t tried a good pie before. The beer here is excellent also with many choices. The bar tender will let you sample the ales as well.
Wednesdays is 2 for 1 on the pies but get your orders in the 2:15 latest as the kitchen closes for 14:30.

Terrible, terrible place! Rude gaffer who’s got a chip on his shoulder and food that’s not impressive. Don’t know what all the fuss is about. Seems dirty as well. Yeuch! look closely at all the tranklements that adorn the walls! All of em haven’t been cleaned since gods dog was a puppy! I eat in many, many places, and this place is the pits! To all the other people who have given this place top marks, all I can say is get out more! There are far, far better places than this dusty hovel.

excellent pies and grills, proper black country food — the mixed grill is served on a shovel! Good ale too. Its a must to visit but make sure you are hungry if you want the despearte Dan pie!

This place is good, not because of the service (which was a bit haphazard to be honest., altho friendly u got the feeling there was other things on their minds lol) but because it was a good ‘old english food’ place which u rarely get nowadays.
We walked in to find a very old fashioned pub but it had a lot of charm. Sawdust on the floor, there was even a bath filled with coins in the middle of the floor (my toddler thought it was his own personal piggy bank lol).
My piggy eyed male counterpart ordered the Desperate Dan Cow Pie and I ordered the smaller version the Daisy Potter Pie. I have to confess the pastry was a failure., undercooked but the pie filling itself was good, it was like a stew but with lots of meat and veg. Very tasty and tender. Of course, my other half couldn’t eat all his, and i managed mine with relish lol.
I had a half of the local bitter and found it was rather strong and very nice indeed. Would go back there again just for that lol.
We did order some take away pies (5 for a £5)., frozen. I ordered two minted lamb and three faggot pies but actually was handed cow pies instead lol and didn’t discover the mistake until I got home (should have taken the hint when the person asked me twice what i wanted lol). The minted lamb pies were out of this world and the cow pies, were too (once the pastry was cooked).
But u know what, the atmosphere in the place was very very good. I’d recommend it to anyone that wasn’t addicted to crispy pastry but did like good real ale lol. I know the visit sounds like a disaster but at the prices they charge, u don’t expect silver service, u expect an interesting experience and it was certainly that. I’d go back anytime.

We have visited this pub several times as it is right on our doorstep. It has a real rustic feel nothing fancy (there is sawdust on the floor!). It’s like a working butchers! They have special offers on the food mid week such as buy 1 pie get 1 free. Food is good quality and of a good size for the price. They don’t have much choice when it comes to wine or kids drinks. The kids menu is ok, the pizza is not a proper pizza style but sliced bread with tomato purée and cheese! My son was not impressed! They have entertainment on some weekends and the beer buses call in there too so can get rather busy. Would recommend for a cheap meal out rather than cooking or to experience the old charm of a black country pub.
