This was the worse lunch we ever had and believe me we eat out a lot. The service was terrible, the food was awful and there was a couple of hairs in the spinach . We comment to the manager about it and he said he will sort it but did nothing. Completely dissapointed all around. I would not recommended at all.

The Lion looks tiny from outside but is actually a big pub and dining room with a beer garden at the back. It’s yuppily refurbished and there’s plenty of kids around, but it’s a residential suburb so that seems appropriate. However, it made a bad first impression by providing me Coke from the tap(this is my least favourite of all the Coke options; the only other option seemed to be from one of those mini glass bottles which almost irritates me more since it’s about £3 for a mouthful). Service was kind of hilarious, the very sweet woman waiting on us veered between merely apologetic and actually mortified the whole meal, even though the worst that happened was that the burger and ribs were not available. There’s a £20 for 3 courses deal, which isn’t bad value. I had hoped for slightly more mussels in my starter but they were big and the garlic and herb crust was delicious. My main of Toulouse sausage and green lentils was quite tasty(although it literally was on e sausage in a bowls of lentils which looked a bit weird). The sirloin roast was good quality but the tartiflette was a little bit disappointing — overly creamy/liquidy. I’m no wine expert but the house Merlot pleased everyone and desserts were a decent standard — the profiteroles looked quite impressive. This is not worth any kind of trek but is a solid option for dining in the area.
