Tramontes Italian Restaurant

A must lovely food, well worth it. The staff are very freindly. You will go back again.

If you think of Italian food being full of flavour, texture and colour then this is NOT the place for you. I have just had the misfortune of eating at Tramontes and experienced what I can only describe as very poor food that was bland beyond believe; for instance an Antipasto which contained only ‘plastic’ meat and ½, yes that’s right, ½ an olive. What happened to the roasted garlic, pepperoncini, mushrooms, anchovies, artichoke hearts, etc?
The main course of Calamari fritters only got worse with a handful of rubber-​like calamari in a oily batter dropped onto a plate of chopped plain iceberg lettuce; have they never thought of using a mixture of leaves, maybe some that are a little metallic, a light dressing and including more than ½ a tasteless tomato?
Given that there are so many nice places to eat in the Taunton area I would definitely give this one a miss especially given the prices that they the ‘brass-​neck’ to charge

Pricey italian but well worth it.
The food is fantastic and authentic italian and you will not be disappointed.
Great range on the menu all cooked freshly to order and you must have an extra large appetite to try one of the calzone because they are huge but more importantly delicious.
Lovely wines on offer and dont be snobby about trying the house wines because they are delicious.

One of our favorite eating places in Taunton. Great home style Italian food — like going to your Italian grandmothers for Sunday lunch. Everything from calzones (watch out, they are HUGE) to calamari. Staff is friendly, professional and leaves you to eat your dinner in peace. Quiet atmosphere but children would feel at home (I don’t think they have a children’s menu but I’m sure they would be more than willing to make up smaller portions — they are that kind of place). Can’t recommend them enough. Not a lot of parking (about 10 stalls) but more nearby. Reached by taking the roundabout by the Sainsbury’s to the Odeon Cinemas. Fairly well marked. Open some days for lunch as well.

One word to sum up Tramontes. Excellent.

The food is brilliant, the service is beyond compare.
This little restaurant is hidden out by the Odeon cinema, beyond the (absolutely disgusting) Mandarin House Buffet.
Specialising in Italian food, the folks that run Tramontes are very traditionally Italian Mama and Papa kind of people, always eager to make you feel at home as their guest.
Top notch stuff.
