The Church of St Audries, designed by John Norton. WESTQUANTOXHEAD, near Williton, county Somerset, is 2 miles E. of the Williton station on the West Somerset railway, and 15 W. of Bridgwater. The small village, is situated on the turnpike road from Bridgwater to Minehead, and is within half a mile of the Bristol Channel. The parish is bounded on the N. by the Bristol Channel with wonderful views of the sea and hills behind. The church, situated along the entrance to the Now Wedding venue St Audries Park is dedicated to St. Etheldreda, has a square tower containing four bells. The interior has a marble font and a painted window. The church was erected in 1856 at an expense of £8,000, by Sir P. Acland, Bart., and Sir Alexander Acland Hood Bart built on the old foundations of the original medieval church, the original font can be seen inside the church. Serene peaceful and full of informative material about the parish, its parishioners and its history. Beautiful little church in a wonderful setting and a real sight to see on a winters night lit up for all to see.
