Called in with elderly parents for lunch… Waited 15 minutes for drinks to arrive. Food then came 25 minutes later. Commented to waitress how slow it had been. Then comes the landlady — rude and curt shoving a receipt under my nose saying we had waited only 25 minutes which in fact wasn’t true at all. I said, excuse me there is no need to be rude when i then had a torrent of how she was a good landlady and for us not to return. Food also was poor, all frozen and cooked so waiting times really for an establishment of that size should be better. Oddly, shall not be returnning. The customers always wrong and madame is not welcoming — top tip — the canal at wrantage — superb…

Had a carvery lunch here. Absolutely superb. Good value. Pleasant staff. Good setting for meetings or private small funytions.
