Blackbrook Tavern

Right, where to start, it claims its self to be «THE GREAT BRITISH CARVERY» Yeah ok!!! Firstly I was stood where I was told waiting to be seated, a woman came over who I can only assume was part of management as she didn’t have a uniform on, she told me she would find me a seat, 10 minutes went by, she didn’t return although she did walk past me 6 times, another waitress came over to say they were booked up but I could take it to my room (I was staying in the premier inn next door) got myself a drink and noticed 7 large tables with no one sat by them, asked the bar tender if I could sit there to which he answered «yes of course you can» paid for my carvery, then went to wait in line, 4 people in front of me for which I had to wait 28mins to be served, ridiculous. Anyway, finally got my food of which there wasn’t much selection, mainly potatoes, most of the food I chose was soggy, the roast potatoes I chose didn’t seem like they’d been roasted, more soaked, there was NO crispiness to them, the gravy was weak at best, the Yorkshire pudding seemed they were made in Taiwan, they were not Yorkshire pudding at all. Literally the only thing that gained this dump 2 stars was a bartender named Michael and the meat I was given, everything else was unbelievably horrific. I wouldn’t go here again even if I had no choice. If this is what people in the south call a carvery may I make one big big suggestion… Move up north because we seem to be the only people who can do it right

Had a terrible meal here just after the refurb a couple years back and hadn’t been near the place sincetill today! You know how you notice things while your waiting, well we did, dirty plates and glasses, lazy, scruffy, forgetful or cant be bothered server that clearly has no pride or interest in her work. Most of the staff similar to be honest Awful carvery, awful service. The food here could possibly make a billy goat sick.

Very good carvery here, great place to stop for lunch on the move and moments away off junction 25 of the highway M5 in south west England
Plenty off road parking, ideal for business meetings, and private parties.

Recently refurbished but lacking in atmosphere. The Tavern looks smart from the outside but the interior is not very welcoming. The bar staff seemed not to know that wines could be either dry or medium sweet (!) and once the coach party left the building the place took on an eerie stillness!
Not your local pub kind of place but OK if you are looking for a quick drink on the way to somewhere else!
