This is a typical branch of WH Smith, similar to those found in High St up and down the country. They sell the usual mix of papers, magazines, books, CD’s, greetings cards and school stuff. They also have a post office in the store. There always seem to be long queues at the post office counter though.

I don’t like the store, as its a small store and feels like they need more floor space. Usually you can buy their products elsewhere cheaper and in a nicer environment too. I usually avoid this place liek the plague. I never feel comfortable here. They do try to stock a full range of products in each section, so on the odd occasion that I have to visit the store I usually do manage to find what I’m looking for. Although I always try to make sure the visit is as short as possible. When I am browsing(I know what I want, but not the specific item) I usually come away empty handed.

Recently the post office has opened in W H Smith and has in my opinion had a poor impact on W H Smith. Before the store was a good size, now it seems small and cramped. The post office is taking up a lot of space and all the stuff that used to be there either seems to have gone or been crammed into a much smaller space, the result being that it’s less pleasant to shop there, and there aren’t as many products on display. On top of that this W H Smith keep letting sales people in to bug customers about buying insurance or something equally as annoying. Like it’s not bad enough that you get accosted everytime you walk down the road, now everytime you walk into W H Smith someone tries to stop you to sell you something.
