Swindon certainly has stepped it up since I left! Lovely local beer flights and very friendly young staff. Pining for some British fair I ordered the steak and Kidney pudding, I was a little down when it was baked rather than steamed but the flavors had a beautiful soulful depth and I was quickly lost in the quality fillings coupled with some red cabbage. The mango crime brûlée was satisfyingly brittle to finish with good lumps of fruit hidden below the pudding. Great quality, sauces, staff and fantastic airy environment.

My family have made it a Christmas Eve tradition of going to the Weighbridge for a few years now. There is a great set up there within the old Brewhouse and even produce their own beer there. One thing you can always count on is the food is amazing! Our meal there was no different to that, the food was sensational as always! What I felt was lacking though was a quality of service that matches the price and quality of food. It took a rather long time for menus to be given to the table and despite only a small number of tables being taken at the time it still took a long time for an order to be taken as well. Having a young staff is something I commend the restaurant for having but last night I felt the team lacked leadership. There was a lot of people standing around not knowing what to do and we were served by anyone we could wave down rather than one waitor/waitress looking after the table. It’s a pricey place and you get value for money with the food, as iv said it’s amazing, but the service really let’s the place down.

Good fresh food, venue itself is great, service poor and to be honest when I order food I am not debating how I want it served that’s my choice. Not enough staff that have the ability to listen still waiting for a glass of water up to the point of leaving the restaurant. Don’t mind paying for quality the meal wasn’t cheap, but service is supposed to part of the deal. Service ruined the experience, Shame.

Good food, slow and haphazard service. Had to ask a waiter to take our order, had to ask 3 times for water and coffees came out long after dessert. When the manager was told all this he called us rude. Hey we have a tip for you: serve customers first and then clear empty tables.

Excellent. Brilliant food every time, just wish I could afford to go more often than once a year! The seabass is to die for!

My Swindonian friends told me that Weightbridge is the poshest restaurant in Swindon. Well, I think they were quite right. I had chilli con carne there and it was simply delicious. I dare say it was the best chilli I’ve ever had. Slightly too greasy for my continental liking, but come on — it’s a British restaurant, it simply has to be greasy, right? ;) Speaking of grease, it was at Weighbridge where I saw something that is probably the fattiest dish ever cooked — pork belly. My French friend got a heart stroke just by looking at it(I’m kidding :). Beer on the other hand was impeccable. It was my first pint of ale ever and I’m a fan now!

The food here is simply fantastic! The menu is varied with a comfort food section which is slightly cheaper but very nice! There is a good selection of ales at the bar and it is a very nice atmosphere. The only small criticism I have is both times I went I had to wait some time for some of the courses, although it was very busy I got the impression that they were struggling to cope with the amount of staff. The staff were very friendly though and the food has to be tried. Very, very good.

4 of us popped in for a quick bite!!! No such thing. We waited over an hour for our meal just seemed seemed interminable. As we were there at 6.30 and hardly anyonelse there we couldn’t understand why!!! The food was good but very expensive. Loved the décor really stylish. It really has been beautifully renovated. I don’t think we will be going back. It is obviously very popular as it was packed by the time we left at around 9.00

We tried this place for a leaving do, as a group of 8. The beer was good, we tried their new brews and were impressed. They do a taster pint 3 thirds, one of each brew. This seemed a good way to find out what you like, but I went straight for the Weighbridge Best Bitter and stayed on that since it was very pleasant, strong and hoppy. We then moved on to eat. The dining area is nicely laid out with all new kit and the staff were attentive. The menu is pretty much identical to the Three Crowns in Brinkworth. No surprise, since it’s the same owners. If you are impressed by lots of different meats from a variety of exotic animals, you’ll like it. If you’re a vegetarian, perhaps less so. There are a couple of veggie dishes, but they’re buried at the end of the menu. The prices are pretty steep. I had Wild Boar, which weighed in at £21 and about 4 ounces. It came swimming in a lot of creamy stilton sauce which was quite pleasant, but the meat was like chewing a shoe. Everybody else’s meal seemed to have the same sauce. I suspect there’s a big vat of it bubbling in the kitchen. The main courses took 20 – 25 minutes to arrive. Not a problem with a group all chatting, but could be improved. This wasn’t mentioned at the start, but we managed. I mentioned the tough meat to the waiter, who went off to the kitchen. He returned some 10 minutes later saying the chef had said in his opinion the meat was not tough, and in any case it had to be well cooked being of the pork family. That was it. No apology, just a bare statement. You either like it or lump it. On the plus side, all my colleagues enjoyed their food, and we had some very pleasant Spanish red wine to go with it. A little later we managed to get the brewer to show us round his little brewery at the end of the bar. Apparently the real head brewer is the guy who used to run Archers, so that explains the quality. Plus points: A nice, well decorated venue with pleasant staff, good beer and mostly good food. Minuses: Not all that interested in rectifying complaints. The building design leads to a lot of ambient noise which makes it difficult to hear conversation once it’s full of people.
