Large pub with a schizophrenic personality. As you go in, on the right is a traditional snug bar, small and cosy with an excellent choice of real ales. If you head straight on, a large and highly illuminated bar serves all kinds of lager and alco-pops, and a seating area with sofas etc.(sadly many broken) and pool table, further back. Kind of the best of both worlds. Can be very busy on Fridays and weekends. If they serve food here, I’ve never seen anybody eating it.

Had a voucher for a meal at this place in Swindon so don’t know it too well I’m afraid, The Steam Railway seems a decent local pub. There are two bars, one of which is quieter and more of a lounge and the other a pub bar. They had several big screens showing the sport so it’s obviously very popular for this! They also had a pool table and plenty of tables and sofas. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much. the food was all on a hotplate and it was late afternoon but I was wrong. The Sunday roast was a generous portion and really nicely cooked. Good beef, with yorkshires and pototoes and veg, I ended up being very impressed indeed and it is really reasonably priced too!

Went one lunchtime a couple of weeks ago. Not many people in there. Served very quickly. A good choice of real ale. The food — their ‘quickie lunch’ was very cheap(3.95) and was suprisingly good. It certainly was served very quickly — couldn’t fault. Small choice of dishes — only 3 but that makes it easier to choose. Would go there again if I wanted a good, cheap lunch and was in a hurry. It was the middle of the week so perhaps a visit on a Friday would see the place with a few more people and a bit more atmosphere.
