Have seen a few movies here… used Orange Wednesdays once, but the better deal is Bargain Tuesdays at £3.95 per person(for 2D films, additional fees for 3D). There is plenty of parking as it is located in a shopping area, right next to a couple of restaurants. The lobby is quite big, but it is a bit rundown and actually seems like a huge waste of space. To the left of the lobby is an old ticket desk that seems to be the storage area and usually hidden(not very well) by movie adverts. On the right are three ticket kiosks. Alternatively you can buy your tickets at the concessions counter while you are getting your popcorn and candy. There is an area with Pick n’ Mix and a Ben and Jerry’s where you can get ice cream, shakes, and sundaes. I don’t think I will be surprising anyone by saying that yes… the food is pricey, but let’s be honest, that’s how cinemas make their money. The staff are friendly and very helpful. While there are 12 screens, it doesn’t feel like there are that many choices for movies. The theatre itself is fine, but if it wants to contend with other cinemas, an update of the seating would help. Overall, it works for the odd night out, but it could use an update to make it a bit more modern.

This is the closest cinema to me and is getting tired now the premium seats are not worth the extra money and compared to vue the screen feels very small just felt like I was at home watching my own tv

It is appalling experiences like this that make you wonder why you didn’t save yourself a heap of money and watch the pirated version of the film. Back in early 2010, I saw Avatar here in screen 12 where at the time they were using the best 3D system available(Dolby 3D). Despite the film, it was one of the best cinematic experiences I had ever had. The quality of the 3D and the audio were both stunning and you didn’t mind the premium for the ticket to see it in 3D Fast forward to 2011 and they have ripped out the 3D system in the never ending conquest to save a few pennies and are now using the inferior Master Image 3D system. I watched Tron Legacy in the same screen here and the picture was so dark that the 3D failed to work correctly. The instructions at the beginning of the film told you to keep your glasses on even through the 2D scenes, but I found myself taking them off regularly just to be able to get a bit of light out of the image. Audio didn’t fare any better. Apart from the speakers rattling during loud passages, I didn’t even hear any surround speakers. Considering Tron Legacy is a 7.1 channel soundtrack it should have been totally immersive, but everything came from the front. When you consider that 2 adult tickets, a drink and some(shared) popcorn come to £30, I don’t think it is much to ask for a movie to be delivered well so that it can be enjoyed. In future I shall travel further afield. I certainly won’t be coming here again.

This is my local cinema so well used by me. However, over the years it has gone into decline; it has had many changes of owner and is now in need of a complete up-date. The loos are appalling; the food over priced and the seating is tired and must be replaced. Worst of all, we often have to wait weeks after a film release date before it arrives at this cinema, if at all. Swindon deserves better and should aspire to the best.

This is my local cinema, it’s a bit expensive, but has a whole heap of screens and vareity of films to see. My favourite day is Orange Wednesday, two tickets for the price of one.

This is a large multi screen cinema complex in the Greenbridge area of Swindon. There is plenty of free car parking available. The cinema is close to the shops there and also close to plenty of restaurants and fast food outlets if you want to stop and have something to eat after you have seen your film. There are plenty of films showing every day and the cinema is clean and tidy.

Empire is a large complex with quite a number of different cinema screens, always showing the latest films. The staff are always very friendly and the place itself is always kept very clean! The only downside is the price seems to go up everytime i go and the price of food and drink is a complete rip off so i would recommend taking your own confectionary.

Recently attended the preview showing of ‘The Dark Knight’. had a great time. The staff are friendly, the seats are comfortable, and the sound was excellent. 12 screens so always a lot to see! Only complaint would be the snacks are expensive, but find me a cinema that sells popcorn a decent price!
