I liked it. I liked it a lot. After deciding the choices in the food court weren’t too enticing we opted to try Ed’s Diner instead. A quirky air conditioned step back in time to rockerbilly USA. We were seated in a booth straight away and as neither of us had been here before the waiter talked us through the menu and then gave us time to decide what we wanted in peace, before a nice young lady came over and took our order. I chose the Chicken Acapulco burger and a root beer. The atmosphere was nice and friendly, I can see where the food is cooked(I do like this touch) as I perused the mini juke box on the table our drinks arrived(super dooper fast, delivered by a guy with ace Star Wars tattoos). By the time we had boogied along to a couple of 1950’s tunes our plates had arrived and my friend was offered a drink refill before her glass was even half empty. The burgers… Superb. So tasty, I had the sour cream and salsa dressings, not too much of either — you know how you usually need more or end up scraping half of it off? Didn’t have to do any of that — 2 different staff asked if our meals were to our liking(oh yes most definitely). The staff were definitely busy but they made the time for their customers, polite and friendly. At the end of the meal the plates were cleared away quickly. It was all very efficient and friendly, couldn’t fault anything at all.

Eds was very busy and we queued for a short while, then seated at a large table. Very soon we where moved to a smaller table to suit the size of our group. This was done very polity and they gave us a 20% discount there and then. The food came quickly and was very good. The device was good. And we left full and satisfied

My partner and I come here now and again. Every time we have a great experience. The staff are friendly and attentive and help explain the menu options. The food is if a high quality and the atmosphere is probably as close to the 1950s as you could probably get. My only negative factor would be the fries. They seem to be general fries with no distinguishing features that makes them stand out from other outlets. However that aside it’s a great place to go. Would definatley recommend this ace to anyone

Great service, very attentive. If you like breakfast 50’s style then this is the place to go, great for kids, parents and grandparents although bringing a great grandparent may enhance it as at least they will know the Elvis rock! Food had an average feel about it and somewhat tasteless but then again maybe I have been spoilt in the past. Overall more style then substance but a much better experience than I expected.

I was pretty excited to hear that there was an Outlet in Swindon. I wasn’t sure that they would have food options, so I was prepared to trek elsewhere when hunger struck, but I saw«Food Court» on one of the signs and got excited! However, the outlet is still under renovation, and while they will have a food court eventually, right now the food court consists of coffee place with sandwiches and KFC. There is a restaurant across from the food court area, Ed’s Easy Diner. I looked at the menu and having had mediocre experiences at other«American Diners», I was a bit hesitant, but I am not familiar with the restaurant, nor the area, so I gave it a go. It was very busy… although I might attribute some of that to the fact that KFC is the other lunch option. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They explained some of the items on the menu… like what comes with the«Ed Plate» option of each dish: chips, onion rings, and coleslaw and what Wet Chips are(chips with gravy). As a solo diner, I thought I might be seated at the counter, but they seated me at a table. There are old jukeboxes on the table and while I don’t think they work, I believe they are used to collect donations. Clever. I liked the vibe of the place… so far, I think it might be the closest to what an American Diner in the 50’s might have been like. The best part was the 50’s music was inspiring sing-a-longs from the customers… young and old alike. The menu isn’t extensive… burgers and hot dogs. There are a couple of salads, but let’s be honest, you come to a diner for burgers, fries, and a milkshake. I did not order a milkshake: 1) I wasn’t sure if my intolerance would cooperate since everything affects me a little differently, but 2) the milkshakes looked a bit too liquid-y. I wonder if they could be ordered extra thick… They did have A&W Root Beer on the menu, including Root Beer Floats! While the burgers sounded great, the hot dogs caught my eye. I haven’t had a Chili Dog in ages and for some reason, it was standing out to me. On the Chili Dog it comes with chili, cheese sauce, and onions. The staff will ask you if you want everything, so no worries if you aren’t keen on onions or cheese. I went with everything and then ordered a side of the regular chips. I thought the plate with chips, onion rings, and coleslaw was overkill and Mr. Snarky would have most certainly suffered in a small hotel room with me ;). When the food came out… it certainly looked like a Chili Dog. I quite liked the chili on the hot dog and could have done with more as Chili Dogs should really be smothered and messy! I could not taste the cheese sauce… although not sure if it was because of the chunks of white onion or if it just wasn’t that tasty. They also have French’s Yellow Mustard, which is always welcome on a hot dog! And the bun was a bit posh… it kind of reminded me of brioche and it was a bit tough and dry… could have been remedied with more chili… or a plain white hot dog bun. The chips were lovely and the portion is sizeable, so how someone could take on the chips, onion rings, and coleslaw is beyond me. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I wouldn’t eat there all the time, but it is a nice treat and if I was missing home, I would certainly stop in for a Root Beer Float!
