Walkabout

My friend and I visited your venue today. Easily the worst customer service experience I’ve had! We went to the counter to order food and drinks. Was greeted by a lady who seemed like she was new as she didn’t know how to work the till very well. She was pleasant and I have no complaints about her. My friend decided to have the sandwich deal were you can add chips for £1 and cola for £1. The chicken sandwich was priced at £3.95 so adding chips and a drink to his meal would come to £5.95. When the lady put it in the till it was showing £7. She looked at the menu with us and realised the discrepancy so called over Tom to help. We showed Tom and he flippantly replied ‘well the till says £7 so it’s £7′. We showed him the menu a couple of times and we got the same response a couple of times followed by a ‘if you don’t like boys you can get out’. My friend and I were shocked at his response to us correctly questioning the price. It was lunch time we were perfectly calm in our questioning and sober. My friend questioned his attitude and he responded overly aggressively again. My friend was also on the receiving end of more of Tom’s stinking attitude on his way back from the toilet, but I was not a witness to that. We both wanted to leave but as we’d both paid we thought we best stay and we didn’t feel comfortable approaching the counter again. I think even if what we were questioning was incorrect we didn’t deserve the attitude we got from Tom. My friend and I were looking for lunch on the wind street before we had a look round the shops. When considering were to eat again an experience like this will mean I will never choose your establishment again. I have never had a particularly bad experience at any of your competitors so will choose one of them in the future. This is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to do this but I hope Tom is shown how to treat customers better.

Ambiance: Walkabout is an Australian-​themed bar but from what I’ve seen it’s not really Aussie-​themed in terms of décor and things of that nature, but moreso with the food. It’s really large and spacious which I like and dedicates itself hugely to broadcasting sports on giant screens as well as multiple smaller TVs.
Customer Service: This is probably where Walkabout gets 1 star off. The customer service really isn’t the best. Admittedly, it’s not like they’re rude, but a tad bit unprofessional. A guy who served me was clearly tired, most likely hungover, and not friendly or enthusiastic at all. If you order food, employees are a bit overeager to clear your plates for some strange reason. I had a huge bowl of chips still untouched and was asked if I wanted it cleared… wtf?
Food: Reaaaally realllly good. It may be just a sports bar rather than a proper restaurant, but don’t underestimate the food. I had Aussie-​Style Steak Pie (comes with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, gravy) and it was one of the best meat pies I’ve ever had. I even started craving another one a few hours after finishing it. The bowl of chips was really great as well — covered with cheese and served with a side of dipping sauce of your choice. I chose Garlic Mayonnaise and it went fantastic and delicious with the chips! (Also great with the mashed potatoes in the Aussie-​Style Steak Pie meal).

Overall, I’m a fan of Walkabout and would come here again. It’s definitely a top-​rate sports bar that has televisions everywhere, decently priced drinks and food, and deliciousss meat pies!

I like Walkabout, it’s great bar that isn’t too fancy, just a simple sports bar that serves great food and has pretty good prices.
I mostly come here in the day to watch the football (On huge screens, they also have 3D aswell now) and eat a meal, though I sometimes come in on a night out and I can’t honestly say it’s ever caused me any grief. The walkabout member card system is amazing — everything becomes 20% (ish) cheaper and it pays for itself after a few visits.
Obviously it’s a chain so don’t expect high class — but it does the job really well, definitely recommend it !

Now you lot all ready know i’m a cheese queen and you know i love Walkabout! This particular Walkabout is certainly not my favourite but does have an amazingly chilled out atmosphere.
Staff are cool as cucumbers and super friendly. Customers are the usual chilled out drinkers and everyone is generally happy to be there.
Toilets are way downstairs with Alice in Wonderland kind of corridors. It really is quite a journey.
As usual mid week Walkabout tends to be on the quiet side but hey, isn’t everywhere?
The food here is as good as it gets for the price although things tend to be on the spicy side.
Alcohol is at a reasonable price to and you never have to queue to long at the bar.
The bouncers here to are really nice chaps, one helped me do my shoe up once… now that’s service.

If you’ve ever been to a Walkabout you’ll know what to expect, an Australian themed bar, which isn’t trying to be cool or trendy but just is what it is. However I do have a soft spot for this particular Walkabout. For starters is much bigger than the nearby Cardiff branch, also it has really friendly chilled out staff, and finally there’s a really nice balcony where it’s great to escape the noise, and perhaps have a smoke. Plus the alcohol’s rather cheap!

Considering I usually really dislike the Walkabout bars in London, the one in Swansea is lots of fun. Yes, it’s crowded and hot, but it’s also nicely laid out, have bathrooms which you don’t have to fight to get to, and have plenty of places to perch when the dancefloor gets too crowded. There are usually some good drinks offers on, and a crowd of friendly pub-​goers who are keen to dance and have a good time. And being Swansea, you’re bound to bump into someone you know in there, which is in added bonus. I’ll be in there when I get back home at Christmas, for sure.

I went to this place last night. It was ok, very crowded. The music was a good mix and we spent most of the night dancing. I would say that most people were in their 20s, so a lot younger than me, but I didn’t feel out of place. A good night out.
