Thanks Tristan! They do say that if one lives nearby, they do not appreciate what is on their doorstep. Well I can honestly say I do now as this view helped me recover when I got back to normality following a stoke.

Box Hill is a truly stunning little patch of National Trust owned land, but what make it deserve 5 stars is the freshly laid road in preparation for the Olympic Road Races this July. Unlike most hills that are this long and steep, Box Hill has been tarmac’d and smoothed to provide a cycling experience that is as close to 100% energy efficient as I’ve ever come across. It is just SO smooth that nobody was complaining about the ascent(and there were a lot of people climbing the hill today as part of a big race). We just glided up it, no bumps, no potholes, no broken car mirrors(Ditchling Beacon I’m looking at you). When you get to the top you have some stunning views and a few food outlets, toilets and other stuff. If you’re in the area and on your bike, you really have to do this. It’s like no other road I’ve ever ridden on. And go up it, the downhill through Box Hill village is not as smooth as this. Keep an eye out on the website in case there are road closures(e.g. the OLYMPICS).
