Not much to say but thought it was worth pointing out that while there are now three(?) ‘spoons in Sunderland city centre, this one is cheapest! The jugs that are 2 for £12 are 2 for £10 here and the ones which normally come in at 2 for £14 are 2 for £12 here, with those savings you could afford more drink! Plus the meal deals(2 meals for whatever) are a little less here than the others. Oh and spoons fans try the vanilla ice frappé it’s lush! Cheap, thicker than a mcdonalds milkshake and a caffeine hit to boot!

Another Wetherspoons pub that I’ve had a good experience in. The staff were very friendly, the service was good, a nice selection of beers, the food was pretty good and not overpriced. There was a very relaxed atmosphere. In all, a nice city centre pub!

The William Jameson was the first Wetherspoons pub to be established in Sunderland. With cheap drinks, the pub soon became hugely popular with young and old people alike. The relic of this is that it is often packed with elder gentlemen on a Saturday and Sunday afetrnoon. If you’re looking for cheap drinks, wether before you go out or just on an afternoon shopping spree, this is the ideal place to come. They also often have offers on the already cheap drinks, a wide selection of wines and spirits and, most importantly, a regular nice selection of real and regular ales. You can also still get Newcastle Brown Ale here. The William Jameson also does food, as does any Wetherspoon outlet, and very cheap indeed. The food is good, fast and frugal, with a very wide selection. They also have self-service satchets for mayo and Ketchup etc, so if you’e a student, you can stock up while you drink! In addition, you can get a Lavazza cappucino for 69p, or a Mocha Cappucino(my favourite, for £1.19. You cant get such a decent coffee that cheap anywhere on the high street! The smoking ban has dented the crowd at jamesons somewhat. It used to be constantly packed, butnow is often empty, with the jovial atmposphere somewhat diminished. They do now have chairs outside to smoke, but in the winter months, it feels like you’re sitting in a wind tunnel. In the summer it’s great as you get to sit outside opposite the City Museum and Old Library! The toilets are nice, clean and well-maintained, a rarity in Sunderland pubs. The pub itself is also well-maintained, although slightly dated. I don’t think this detracts much when you think of the price of everything. After all, with no music, that’s why you’re there! All in all, a great, budget, quality pub.

This is a typical weatherspoons bar. The food and drink are good value and due to this is can get pretty busy at times. It’s a bit out the city centre though so generally busier ealrier on as people choose to meet and start here.
