Oh dear. Where to start? Faded décor, knackered toilets and taps that don’t work. Food not evenly hot, menu deals that are confusing. We ordered the 2 course meal deal — when the food arrived the servings were small. We asked about this and found out that the portions would have been bigger with the three course deal. This is not made clear on the menu :(
I am sure life is tough for the owners of Robertos since the local theatre closed. But the place desperately needs updating and better clarity with the menu, otherwise it is going to die.

Wow! What a little gem we have here! I’ve not been to Italy (yet), so I’m unsure how traditional or authentic this trattoria is but it’s how I would imagine one to be. The food is superb and priced very reasonably for the quality you get. I’ve tried the bolognese, arrabiatta and lasagne, all of which had a rich tomato flavour bursting from within. The pasta is ever-​so-​slightly al dente, just perfect! The parmesan (should you opt-​in) is generously applied, not just the token sprinkle you get in other restaurants. The portion sizes are just right, unless you’re a glutton, and arrive at your table in a timely manner. The staff are efficient rather than rushed and nothing is too much trouble. They are extremely friendly and will take the time to explain the dishes, if you require it, and will happily recommend a dish based on your tastes. I can’t praise this restaurant highly enough. Your taste buds should demand you visit this wonderful trattoria. You will not be disappointed!

Very good food, good service if a bit rushed thumbs up

this a great restaurant for a meal, the staff are fantastic, very polite, nothing to much trouble, the menu is varied, the food is true italian, if in hanley this is a must to visit.
