I’ve been tempted back to The Marquis of Granby in Ipstones many times recently, since the new management took over in late 2011. Lovely food, immaculately clean, friendly staff and I hear they serve a great pint I drink shorts myself. They’ve get guest ales on tap and are part of the Titan Brewery promotion where you can get your Titan passport stamped when buying the real ale. If you want to eat though, it really is becoming essential to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Oh and they stop serving food by 4pm on a Sunday or before if the carvery runs out of food, lol. Oh and they have rooms too if you want to stay overnight again, it’s wise to book in advance. If eating the starter portions of mussels or garlic mushrooms are absolutely divine, and they try to source their food locally. nom nom. Enjoy

This pub which is a grade 2 listed building dating from the 18th century has a separate dining area and offers high quality home cooked food. This is reflected in higher prices on the main menu than other pubs in the locale, but, if you want a higher standard of food it’s well worth it. They do offer ‘meal deals’ at certain times eg on a Tuesday evening, 6pm — 9pm you can have 2 mains(from a limited selection) for the price of one. Also at lunchtimes from Mon-Thursday you can get a starter and a main for £6. Less of a ‘pub’ atmosphere, perhaps due to revamped interior and more emphasis on dining. They also offer B&B.
