Is this Staffordshire’s best kept secret? The owners of the Mill at Worston say it is on their advertising. It may be opinion, but it’s not too wrong. Don’t expect a very quiet country pub as beer garden is next to the west coast main line. If you like trains thundering past you at over 100mph then that won’t be a problem. That said the beer garden is rather attractive, not so large you can’t keep an eye on the kids, but big enough that they can do their own thing. The mill building has laods of character, they explain the history of it on their website. Food and drink is solidly good, and can find no fault with it.

It is quite rare now to stumble across a pub with rustic charm, quiet surroundings and fantastic pub food. The Mill is child friendly with a play area and plenty of outside space. You are also spoilt for choice with the food with both a restuarant and a pub menu. For a more relaxed dining experience you are free to order restaurant dishes to eat in the pub dining area. I ate steak and ale pie which was rich and tasty with a huge side of veggies and chips– all included in the price. The lasagne is also meaty and full of flavour and the casserole also looked fantastic. There is also a tasty array of starters and deserts if you are eating out for a special occasion and want to make an evening out of it. Very highly recommended and worth the drive out of town.
