This carvery is very hit and miss sometimes it’s great and other times dreadful it meat is mostly over cooked and had been sitting on the hot plate forever the veg is usually great and flavoursome the gravy serving area is always messy and sticky and we have to ask for mint sauce most times we eat here. The chefs are usually covered on food and unfriendly having said that I’m not bothered but I know some people are. The bar staff are excellent and will pass the time of day with you. The bar area is usually clean and tidy but maybe a little effort could be used on the cleaning if the chairs the upholstery could do with a few ashen up. We now go to this carvery look at the meat and if it’s on a off day we carry on into stafford and go elsewhere.

The carvery is good value for money as long as you avoid Sundays as they then double the price. The meat is nice, the vegetables are okay but perhaps slightly overcooked, and the roast potatoes are either perfect or cremated. Plenty of gravy, mint sauce, cranberry sauce and other condiments available on a small table. It can get very busy, and tends to attract a fairly low socio-economic crowd. If you can’t bear lots of noise, a bit of queuing, children screaming, and slightly dirty tables due a quick turnaround then avoid here. But for the Mon-Sat carvery price, you can’t really grumble. If you want a quiet drink and a game of pool, there is a nice bar area upstairs too.

Have been a few times(not out of choice) the meat has always been good as has the potatos/gravy/stuffing/yorkshires however the veg is always terrible, i dont know what they do to the carrots but its wrong. Apart from that the staff dont really seem to be bothered, the other diners are either noisy, have no table manners or are a bit daft(i saw a woman stood up videoing her carvery for 2 mins with a camcorder once) the tables always seem to be either covered in food or sticky and the back of the restaurant is very dark as for some reason they have covered up the windows. all in all the meats are good every thing else is a bit of a let down but for stafford and for the price is guess its average.

Heard on the grapevine that the carvery was good, waited in a queue for a good ten minutes, the carvery had run out of turkey, it was only just turned 8 oclock, veg was cooked ok, staff not too polite.

The Radford in Stafford is the best carvery that I have ever tried in my 50+ years of eating in Restaurants. Great value for money £3.55, went up 05p a short time ago. Fantastic choice of freshely cooked vegatables, which you help yourself to. Great choice of condiments. Helpful friendly staff. I just can’t speah highly enough of this Carvery Restaurant. There are other great choices in the menu as well. Long may it last, it’s a brilliant example of good food and value for money. We have been going there now for more than 10 years and have not been dissapointed once. Not enough stars availabe for this one, we give it the max.

I like my carvery. A lot. So I always have high hopes when I go to have one. And I have never been disappointed here, and I doubt I ever will be. Just South-East of Stafford down the A34, next to the River Trent is the Radford Bank Inn. The building is split on two-levels, with the restaurant downstairs and the upstairs being a Lounge Bar. You have to enter downstairs in the car park area which can be confusing if you have never been there before. As with most carveries, your choice is of Turkey, Gammon and Beef and with most carveries I have been to, I am never disappointed. Monday to Saturday a Carvery costs £3.50 and on Sunday it costs £6.50. There is plenty of non-carvery options available also for those who have weird senses of taste. :-) Drinks are pretty cheap too with a pint of Carlsberg being £1.99, from what I can remember, and they do bottles of Woodpecker! Very refreshing! One note of caution, it can get busy on Sundays due to its popularity, so a short wait may be in order. If that’s the case, the bar upstairs is a good place to relax. 6 Stars! Out of 5! Flawless display. P. S. Some very friendly staff too, it must be said.

Fantastic carvery pub! I highly recommend a trip here if you are feeling hungry The carvery is around £3.50 during the week, and a bit more on a sunday, and it is fantastic. They serve turkey, gammon and beef, a range of veg including roast and new potatos, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, etc. A tip is they only give you 1 yorkshire pub(the small ones), if you feel like more than 1 just ask and they’re happy to oblige — so make sure you do! Plenty of places to sit, you can’t book here so at the busiest times you might have to wait in a queue for the carvery, but its rare that anything runs out as they regularly replace everything.
