I love the Colney Fox, the atmosphere and food are great. All the wine is amazing, its nice when a pub isnt cheap with the house wine selection. This is my favourite pub in the winter to have a lovely meal by a warm fireplace!

My colleague brought me here for a late lunch — we needed some place still serving at 2:30pm.
We were seated promptly and went to review the menu but hte specials of the day intrigued both of us. He had the monkfish and I had a killer Salmon en Papillote — covered in herbs and served on terrific small potatoes.
I have been craving that salmon ever since!
Terrific patio that is segmented into smoking and non smoking. I can imagine this place in mid summer with families from the area. I look forward to coming back to the Colney Fox!

the only good thing about the colney fox is the young waiters /​waitresses, who aim to please & are polite & friendly. but everything else is terrible. on our last recent vist the waiting time for our food to arrive was awful given it took just over one hour for our meals to arrive.. when they did finally arrive there was part of the orders missing, where there’d run out of stuff, plus the manageress was really unfriendly /​grumpy., needs to learn good service skills on how to treat people. overall will be our last vist, even though its our local. defiently needs a lot of improvement.

This eaterie goes from bad to worse. There used to be a graet Manager who ran a very ‘tight ship’. Nothing was too much trouble and the food always looked and tasted great. They have a new Manager now who never seems to be around and the staff just dont care. They serve up the food despite it looking like it has been thrown onto a plate. If you are unfortunate enough to order gammon n eggs I can almost guarantee that the eggs will be like rubber after being placed under a hotlamp once they have finished being cooked.
The Management need to get a grasp, it is not adequate to just have a big popular place to go, if you want to keep the trade then you have to look after it

Not the most spectacular food or drink but very reliable. I used to live just next door and always brought family or friends here as the menu usually had something to suit everyone and the prices were pretty reasonable.
