It’s not my closest chip shop but I’d heard good things about The Camp fish bar(albeit not from Unilocal because of our distinct lack of St Albans Unilocalers) so on my birthday I sent my hubby out to get us some Fish and Chips. The chips were not as crisp as I expected but I like the soft ones. This would be a disappointment to many others though. The battered haddock was delicious — crispy batter with a well-cooked fish that had quite a sweet taste. The battered sausages looked disappointingly like regular short sausages in batter. Depending on the weather I would go back, but I think my husband would stick to the one around the corner.

People say your local chip shop is always going to be your favourite and I must say that this is definitely my favourite. The chips are crisp and tasty, they have a variety of fish that is freshly cooked with great batter. They have the usual exotic pickled things like girkins and eggs and also have fizzy drinks and botttles of vinegar and tomato sauce. They are closed on Mondays which always catches me out. They also serve vegetarian spring rolls, and cheese and onion pasties if you don’t eat fish.
