Love the coffee here — and my daughter loves the hot chocolates(and cakes) Nice food(reasonable) and good friendly service. Easy on the wallet, and nice to not have a ‘chain’ feel

Went back to Gabriels this week first time since shortly after it first opened. Don’t know whether it’s changed hands. it was still as friendly as ever but the tea! It now arrives in a tall glass cup with a tea bag on a string dangling in it not a hope of a decent brew sadly. This is Yorkshire heartland, not some continental street bar please give us proper tea in a teapot. We had a very nice pannini, but the salad came as a bed of leaves covered in diced onion, cucumber, tomato, pepper possibly difficult to tell but for someone who doesn’t care for raw onion for example, it was not easy to eat. Again trying to be something in the heart of Yorkshire which just doesn’t fit really. Can I suggest that you go back to basics a bit nothing too fancy perhaps.

We too went while they were shut but it didn’t put us off, we just went again when they were open, they have been open 7 days a week for such a long time, they deserve a break. As one of the reviewers said, the coffee is to die for. The cakes are yummy, the panini’s are so tasty and quite full, not like these panini’s you get that are so thin you have to go looking for the filling. The breakfast is super to, the bacon is so tasty. So much care is given to everything that is prepared from a cup of coffee to a full breakfast. They have the biggest fruit teacakes we have ever seen. The seating upstairs is cosy and we love going with friends and sitting on the settee’s having a good old chat, it is like sitting in our own lounge at home. Nothing is too much trouble for John, Louise, Tom or Ben, they are all so friendly and helpful. We certainly love going and will keep going and certainly don’t mind if we get there one day and they are closed, they must have had a really good reason to do so.

Great coffees, friendly place, extensive range of yummy paninis and similar — and the scones(which arrive in a plant pot, and are huge!) are the best I’ve ever eaten! Well worth a visit.
