A shadow of itself definitely not as good as when I was a kid. The big fair on the front gone and replaced with a small modern one. I remember going as a kid and parking on the large car park on the front facing the beach eating chips and supping cans of Pepsi car park and chippy long gone so as the old outdoor swimming pool. Some how it doesn’t seem the same Southport beach any more.

Great prom for walks except spoilt by the fact there are no facilities. Nowhere to buy a snack, a drink of any sort or toilet facilities. I suggest tourist board takes a trip to Torremolinos to see how to attract tourists.

Love southport and the beach, which is huge so plenty of space for games ect. Can’t wait for summer as we’ll be there on hols for 2 weeks, so lots of beach walking and lovely Lord Street.

Large beach with views over to blackpool. The beach is split up as there is a marshy area and the sand area. Parking is ok and the beach is quite clean and near the fair

we visit southport quite regulary and always park our car on the beach up by the old fair, its a huge beach and you can see accross to blackpool, but i often find it a bit grubby, dirty and tired, also the sea is so far out that paddling isnt an option. on our last visit, it was the air show, it cost us £20 to park and watch the show from the beach, thats for 2 adults and a toddler, we thought it was a bit steep. the airshow its self was great just expensive.

Maybe you have to live here to appreciate it, but I love the beach at Southport. Yes the sea can be miles away, but at high tide when the sea crashes in it’s amazing. Acres of sand to play/walk your dog and donkeys in the summer, what more can you want?

Southport beach seems unique to me in that it’s the only beach I’ve been to where you can almost never see the sea. It’s so far away! This actually makes it an ideal place to learn to drive in the evening, you can bring your car down here and give your kids a go, pull handbrake turns, and generally ruin the underside… remember to wash the salt off. The seafront has that lovely dilapidated British coastal resort feel…

Lovely wide sandly flat beaches. Southport beach has a little theme park like a mini blackpool. Ainsdale, slightly further South, is beautifully isolated with lovely sand dunes. Kiting and horseriding popular(although there are no facilities for trying these sports). Great for long walks by the waves or playing cricket on the flat sand. Red squirrels at nearby Fornby.
