We’ve been there twice. The first time was a great evening — couldn’t fault the food or the service and I’d have give 4 stars at least. Sadly, the second visit will probably be our last, as the staff were indifferent, the food was similar(I’ve never had Maco Nachos like that and hope not to again, no sign of guacamole, but the manager just insisted it was mixed in somewhere!). I could(and have) done far better myself! We ordered the«Early Bird», which includes a dessert, but sat for quite a while expecting one of the staff to notice us(it wasn’t busy and we were right in front of the bar). After about 20 minutes we decided that, if the main course was anything to go by, we’d not bother with desert. When we paid the bill and mentioned the problems, the manager’s attitude was very ‘don’t care less’. Two Stars as an «average» of the two visits. Pity they didn’t keep up the experience we had the first time :(

As you might have guessed from the name, Fuego’s is a Mexican restaurant that offers its customers the very finest in Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine without them even having to leave their own postcode. Despite being somewhat hidden away from the busier parts of Southport, Fuego’s nonetheless manages to maintain its popularity, mainly due to its varied and inexpensive menu that offers a wide selection of delicious dishes. Being a big fan of Mexican food, I could probably name you at least four or five dishes off their menu that I’d recommend, including their tasty fajitas and a chilli con carne with more than a bit of a spicy kick. The atmosphere there is always quite lively but not in an off-putting way, meaning it’s a great place to go if your in a group and fancy starting off a night out with some nachos, tequila and a Desperado or too.

Situated on Stanley Street in Southport, Fuego’s offers traditional mexican and spanish cuisine. The atmosphere is very good, lively and buzzing. I think the size(big) of the restaurant really makes it — perfect for large groups. Oh and of course the food, which is at affordable prices. A children’s and early bird menu are available every night. It’s totally up to you how you which to eat your tapas, be it will a friend at the bar or more formally at the table. The chef at Fuego’s will cook the food in front of you, which I always think is really nice.

I recently found myself dining out in Southport and having to rely on a local to choose the place to eat. Never again,(sorry Chris) but the place was diabolical. We started with nachos, which were so dry and rubbery you could have used them to retread your tyres. I followed this with a prawn dish that can only be described as red vomit on a plate. The prawns were so hard if I had flicked one of them at the waiter(sorry did I say waiter, plate carrier would be a more accurate description) I would have caused fatal injury, even if the prawns had have been edible the chilli sauce was that hot I would have been unable to taste them. All this came served with what could only be some supermarkets basic extra value frozen chips. I don’t know about you guys but if I’m paying good money(and it wasn’t cheap) I at least expect fresh chips. As to what my partner ate, we won’t go there but I would never have been able to make 1 faihita with the food and sauces he was served let alone the 3 it was supposed to make. I really should have known what the food and service should have been like when we sat down and the waiter(plate carrier) didn’t know what a carafe was! A very loud, very dyslexic pianist having piano lessons accompanied all this.
