As Pizza Expresses go this one is as they all are, light and airy but a chain nonetheless. This restaurant has a nice layout with additional seating available outside and a good choice of items on the menu. The staff know what they’re doing and most tables have a good view of the kitchen prep area which is nice and clean

Was disappointed with Pizza Express. I thought the waiters clothes looked dirty, they did not appear to clean the glasses or plates(both!) properly before serving another drink or main course. I had to tell the waiter to take it away as the humongous plates(for food that wasn’t there-garlic bread!). When my friend asked for a clean spoon(as the one given to her was dirty) the waitress just looked at her, didn’t even say anything and apparently shoved another one in her hand!

Gorgeous food with a changing seasonal menu. You can see your food being cooked in front of you and there is a friendly atmosphere. Stylishly decorated with helpful staff.

Pizza express is part of a big UK chain of resturants. I’ve been to several around the UK, and overall Southend’s one does not stand out very much. The décor and lighting are quite dark in here, and it often can feel quite cramped if the place is full. However, the food is very nice(if a little over priced) and offeres mainly pizza but with some pasta and salad dishes, and the staff are happy to make alterations to the dishes on the menu, if you have any dietary needs or are just fussy! There is a small outside are to sit, but the view is not nice(just of a road and a car park). The staff always seem to be friendly and helpful and i do like the fact that you can watch the chefs cook your meal! You can sometimes make reservations, but if they have a big party in you can’t and just have to turn up and hope for the best — i don’t understand why they do this it would be better to just book up and tell people they are fully booked!

This is an excellent pizza restaurant in the town centre. It has a great range of pizzas with a smaller range of pasta, as well as salads and other side stuff including dough balls which are amazing. It is extremely family friendly — easily accessible with a buggy and staff are quick to move chairs to accommodate buggy or high chair. It has a baby changing room and a reasonably priced children’s menu. They also provide children with activity kits which include stickers and crayons — which makes taking our toddler an enjoyable experience. The service is good and you are made to feel that they genuinely enjoy serving you. Definitely to be recommended!

This is one restaurant I don’t mind going to with the children. Apart from the fact that the food is always wonderful, they make the children feel special with their menus. They can order a little complimentary side salad with their meal and they even get a baby chino(a small cup of frothy milk with chocolate sprinkled on top) after their dessert! They also get a little pack of colouring stuff and other bits too. Their pizzas are great, dough balls a must and their salads are just amazing. The staff, at least in our local branch in Southend, are always friendly and great with the children.
