Imagine a smokey gentleman’s club in the 60’s loads of wood and high ceilings and you will have in mind exactly the Naval & Military Club; although these days minus the smoke. The younger person born this side of the 60’s will find it overbearing, rigid and daunting, so much so they may feel they do not belong. This club is huge with TARDIS like proportions. The beer is reasonable priced as you might expect and for the first time visitor you can be signed in. However, to join there is an annual cost which might seem a little steep but if you take advantage of the cheap beer, regular live entertainment and the other facilities you would more than get your money back. for the occassional visitor it is expensive. This club is an ex-military styled club so expect to see all types of ex-service people of an elder generation in attendance. The club is run by committee. If you are ex-military and visiting the town then a warm welcome will await you.
