I have always viewed this store as waiting to go bust, the décor is so outdated, along with the stock. However this christmas I braved the crowds and was pleasantly surprised by their christmas present range this year. They were very reasonably priced and offered discounts to compare to other high street stores.
Still the grandmother of the high street, it still is well loved.

Department store on Southend High Street. Sells a range of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing as well as homewares and also has a small café inside. This store is a bit run down and could do with a refurbishment. The clothes are also a bit dated but it is good for basics.
The best thing about BHS is it’s range of Christmas gifts — they have so much in stock at the moment and it’s all very reasonably priced. Alcohol sets, hot chocolate mug sets, beauty gift sets, slippers, sweets, toys, they have something for everyone.

good range of clothing and good quality, with great customer service too.
the café is nice and inviting, and the toilets and baby changing facilities are very well kept.
the lifts are a bit to be desired, often tsking you to the basement stock room rather than ground floor but overall a plesant shopping environment.

Nice shop well appointed and reasonable prices BUT a little bit dated on the fashions. Great for tights and underwear as a bit less expensive than M & S but still quality items. Well worth a look at sale time!
