Southamptons venue on the gig circuit, usually £10−20 a gig here. Large open hall, with a raised stage, usually gets pretty full. Never had to queue, but never arrive too early either. Two bars, they don’t serve much variety and generally £3.50 a pint, not bad for the venue. My biggest complaint is too many tall people go and the atmosphere isn’t usually very vibrant… I go to Portsmouth Guildhall and the people seem much more interested in the bands(and I can see over the top of them), its as though people in Southampton go to the wrong gigs?
Chaotic I.

A nice little place for gigs and events. The area inside is quite small and sometimes the guildhall hosts gigs, events like open days and graduation days. I went there for my graduation day and it definitely looked much larger back in 2006 but this time round it looks rather small. Its easy access to get to, so not far from the train station or the city centre either.

A good venue. Not that many good bands go there I don’t think. There are always long queues outside before a gig the same as with most venues. It is a nice building and it quite nice inside. The venue is mainly standing but there is a small balcony with a few seats. You can get close to the band. The sound isn’t that good though. They sell merchandise just inside the entrance. There are bars on both sides of the hall and they are expensive. I paid £4.50 for a pint of cider. It definitely is not the best venue I have been to.

Southamptons premier gig venue, acoustics are not great though, the sound techs crank the sound up to the max distorting each instrument, could do with dropping it just a tad, this would make the venue much better.
