I treated myself to a wardrobe makeover and booked an appointment with the Hedgend, instore personal shopper, Janine. We met at 10:30 as arranged and I took my daughter with me for moral support. We had a brilliant time, we were with Janine until 2:30 and had such a laugh, Janine was very honest, but also explained very well what did and didn’t work for me and what I should look for. There was never a time when I felt under any pressure to buy anything I didn’t like, although I have to say there was very little I didn’t want to have! I did have a good budget and came home with several outfits, accessories and even shoes and I love them all. I would recommend anyone to visit Janine — there’s not charge and no pressure.

I tried out the Personal Shopper(PS) facility at Marks and Spencers as I’m not great when left to shop for clothes myself(I get overwhelmed at the range of clothes and choices available and then boredom sets in!). I have also used the PS facility in other department stores with great success. I like M&S clothes and have a soft spot for the Per Una range so I had high hopes for M&S at Hedge End. The consultation with my PS started well — she started by asking me if I was looking for clothes for any particular occasion(wedding, work, party etc). However, she didn’t ask me what type of clothes normally appeal to me or what colours I like/dislike. She then walked round the store with me, asking me to point out anything I liked! To be honest, I could have done that myself without booking a Personal Shopper appointment. There was no charge but, compared with previous stores where I have used this facility, this approach seemed a pointless exercise. The lady also seemed uncomfortable telling me whether something was too tight or didn’t flatter me. I appreciate this is not an easy thing to do but if you need help or guidance choosing something then it is essential their staff are equipped to give honest opinions. Disappointing experience.

I love this M&S! I think mainly because it is so huge and well stocked. As well as a clothing and home area there is a small supermarket too. Whatever you are after, this store has it. And if it doesnt, its attached to a massive Sainsburys! Its very clean and the aisles are always wide and clear. Staff are very friendly and approachable, and prices as always in Marks very reasonable for the quality they offer. This store is out of the way, so you will need to live local to hedge End or have transportation but all this allowing you really cannot go wrong. If you are out for the day, you can even stop for a bite to eat as there is a resturant situated between Marks’ and Sainsburys.

I visited M&S at Hedge End yesterday lunchtime. The store since the refurbishment is in my opinion a little confusing and cluttered. There seems to be no real flow to the layout. After searching for over 10 minutes I found the bag I was looking for, not with the rest of the bags but in the gifts section! I spoke to one staff member who had no idea where even the bags were. The store was really busy but staff were trolling the queues asking for cash paying customer to go to another till with a shorter queue. The staff were really nice and friendly although when I left I realised they had charged me twice for something so I had to re-queue to get a refund. The quality of the leather bag I bought was exceptional although some items I looked at while browsing seemed to be quite cheap and flimsy looking. I guess that M&S are now trying to capture the budget market as well.

This is probably one of the biggest Marks and Spencers i have ever been to. I once heard it was the biggest in the country although i am unsure if this is true! It has a massive clothes section as well as a fairly large food section. The clothes section is laid out well with a large accessory section and a large underwear section not often found in smaller Mark’s. The food section is good however it sometimes doesnt have everything you want in stock especially when they have a 2 can dine for £10 offer. This store is right next door to a Sainsbury’s, the entrances are literally together and there is no need to go outside to get from one to the other, so after you have done some food shopping you can pop next door for some extra special bits! Staff are always friendly and any offers they have are usually by the front door which is good so you know before you buy. The only disadvantage to this is that i find the store quite hard to navigate and often get lost!

The Hedge End Marks and Spencers store is amazing! I have never been in such a huge M and S store! They have a vast selection of all their ranges, from per una to the plus size range, and plenty of all sizes in stock. I have been there when they had a sale on, and it was a shopper’s paradise, with rail after rail of reduced clothing! It is an out-of-town store so plenty of parking right outside, and a café to keep thirst and hunger pangs at bay. A great shop!
