I ate dinner at Kuti’s Royal Thai Pier(that’s the full name) in Southampton, England on 7÷20÷2015(20 July 2015). It was my 1st time there. The Thai restaurant is located in a wonderful old building while the interior is beautiful as well. I had soup as well as a main entrée. My bill came out to GBP26.65(not including the tip). Miriam, my server, was very helpful. Plus, I took photos.

This was an all you can eat buffet for £15. They had salads, finger food, good courses, and deserts. For the price, it was a great deal and they had great entrees. They had one(green) curry and some noodles, but it would have been better if they had more curries to choose from and perhaps some traditional pad thai? Not sure if they rotate the dishes. The desert consisted of fried banana and some fruit. Overall not bad and nice restaurant!

This has to be one of my favourite Thai restaurants. The food is totally amazing and I would recommend always going for the buffet. The staff are well presented and welcoming at all times!

Just been to this restaurant and was very impressed. The buffet had an excellent choice with a fresh cooking station as well! Very nice ‘purple’ space with very friendly waitresses. Even had a magician entertaining at your table. Will be returning!

We have always been fans of Kutis in Oxford Street, but now we have been to the Thai Pier about five times. It never ceases to please, with helpful and polite staff, and a great choice on the buffet. We would thorougly recommend it.

I wouldn’t actually give this place even one star. It would only get half based on the theatrics of the venue. Placed on the pier in a palace like building it is a sight to behold. The owners are certainly not shy people. It had the makings of a great night and great experience. As you enter you are greeted by a man fully dressed in «Indian» clothing, turban, sword and all. The sat in the modern and purple waiting room with a nice looking bar. The moment we were asked to follow a lady to our table… the experience crashed down to earth and started digging its own grave. It was a mad house. A large purple, purple and purple madhouse. There were parties of people everywhere with 2 large tables either side of the room with a series of single tables in the middle so that anyone hoping for a private meal was flanked by a birthday party either side. We didn’t know it was a buffet but knew it was Thai. Although we had to recheck the menu because all of the staff were indian! :-) we indicated we didnt want the buffet and asked our waiter if what we ordered would cooked fresh or whether if we happened to order something that was also on the buffet, it would come from the buffet supply. She was unsure and to go check then told it would be cooked fresh… :-s I had a look at the buffet just out of interest and for a Thai for lover, couldnt see much in the way of Thai food, it looked more Chinese with extra lemongrass and a red, green and yellow curry. After ordering our Pad Thai and duck curry, we witnessed 3 birthday songs with complimentary cake and a mass exodus to the buffet table when a fresh batch of sweet and sour pork was dished up. People going up and down, knocking our chairs all the while. Luckily I rather enjoy the company of my partner who keeps me sane and came. 40 mins later our mains arrived and while the pad thai looked fine, the meat on my duck dish was chicken. not good so I told the waiter and instead of apologising and fixing it, tried to convince me for afew minutes that I had ordered chicken! Supervisor spoken to, a replacement came 10minutes later. I wondered why we had to wait 40 minutes the first time round? Finally tucking in to out food, it didnt get any better. It was bland, very bland. for thai for it was lacking the correct spices and didnt have the correct mix of sweet, sour, spicy, bitter or saltly flavour that form the basics of thai cooking. We asked for fish sauce and they didnt have any!!! I spoke again to manager who seemed more concerned with the party tables than what I had to say. No apology was given. Thoroughly disappointed we left. Paid the unrepresentative bill and told the doorman we would not be back. Summary: Shameful to Thai Cooking. A joke of a restaurant, probably good for a party and people who dont go to restaurants for the food. Run by otherwise uncaring staff, atleast who served us, overpriced and far too purple. I would not recommend this restaurant to even my enemies(if I had any).

Have only recently gotten round to trying this restaurant despite knowing it was around for a while. It’s very large and very purple! Anyway, we ate A la carte so can not comment on the buffet but the quality was very good. Nothing out of this world but if you are looking for a good meal and enjoy Thai food, you can not go far wrong. Not a place if you are on a budget as it is relatively expensive.
