I took my parents and boyfriend here for a three course meal and we thought it was excellent. Above average for the price all in all(~£4.50 starters, ~£10 mains, ~£4.50 puds) we’ve paid a lot more for a lot less in Edinburgh. Portions were generous, food was hot & very tasty(especially the Tandoori Sea Bass), and perfect location for a short stroll before heading back to Edinburgh. We would all(and we all had a different dish each course) definitely go back & will be recommending it to our friends. As below, I never write reviews but felt I should as the others definitely don’t reflect the evening we had.

Dreadful service and dreadful food we left without eating anything We visited on a Wednesday evening around 7.30pm and the restaurant and bar were both fairly quiet. We ordered drinks and snacks(nothing complicated; deli sandwiches, bruschetta, mussels, chips) which took 50 minutes to arrive. When they finally did arrive the deli sandwich had almost no filling, the chips were cold, the mussels overcooked and the bruschetta soggy. We left and will not return.

Before I paid a visit to the Two Bridges I had heard that it did have a slightly poor reputation. Most of the comments that I had heard was that it had a very poor level of customer service and the food took ages! So, I decided that when I was there I would have a quick drink, a good excuse for a nosey. When I was there the bar part of the inn wasn’t that busy so I managed to get served pretty quickly. The bar itself has your normal drinks on offer and doesn’t expand to much into the world of real ales. Prices aren’t cheap, but not too bad. The place is quite traditional with a hint of modernity about it. People looked quite happy with the food, and the portions looked reasonable enough. The best thing about this place though is the amazing views out towards the Firth of Forth. If you visit this place, get a table with a view!

Given that this restaurant has a prime location overlooking the forth and both the rail and road bridge we were very dissppointed by our visit. We visited at the latter end of the summer when it was busy but not mobbed. We went in to find a table for a drink with a view to eat. All the empty tables were dirty and no one made an effort to clear one for us. we stood about for a few minutes and as no one made any attempt to help we left and went elsewhere. This could be a fantastic place but needs a bit of a push.
