Many happy childhood memories from visiting this library! Located in the former school building of Charles Darwin, there is an extensive range of books available to loan. I know that at one point the library was also loaning sheet music. There is free internet access and the building itself is very accessible for disabled people. There are also quiet spaces for people who wish to study in peace. On the upper floors you can see the carvings made by former pupils on the benches which date back to the 1700’s. On the first floor there is a children’s reading corner where children can sit in comfortable seating and read their favourite books. When you visit this library, you can feel the history as soon as you walk in. You really do feel like you are stepping back in time. This is definitely worth a visit, whether you are a tourist or whether you just want to loan books.
