I used to frequent the halfway house on a regular basis. I stopped going as the prices were increased and the food and service seemed to be going down hill. We decided to try it once again as the restaurant that we liked was fully booked and you are limited for good eateries in Baildon. The pub itself is a very pleasant environment and clean which is allways a good start. I ordered as a starter duck and chicken rillette on a bed of crispy noodles with a plum sauce. The duck and chicken rillette was very dry and bland, the noodles were not crispy and like chewing on old leather and the sauce was nice but not enough of it to try to counteract the dryness of the rillette. The knife I was given was blunt and made the experience of eating the starter hard work. For main course I ordered rump steak but this was very fatty and again was rubbery. The presentation of the meal was not good and looked as though it had been thrown on a plate rather than laid out. For dessert I ordered a halfway mess which was in theory similar to an eton mess and the menu stated fresh whipped cream however when it came, it looked good but on closer inspection had been made with squirty cream. I dont allow my children to eat this and certainly wouldnt expect it of a restaurant that bosts such high standards. One of our party has coeliac disease which basically means she cannot tolerate wheat and gluten. We asked the chef if he would make a saauce of some description that was wheat and gluten free but he said he didnt know how to make one and so would not oblige. Her dessert came which again was a halfway mess but she had to remove half of it as he had contaminated it with a biscuit even though he was aware of her condition. The rest of our party were also disapointed with the meal for similar reasons. To sum it up it was a very overpriced meal for the standard of food we recieved. We will not be eating here again.

good pub and food, service was slow but that was ok because we don’t want disturbing whilst eating. it was empty really, however it was just after Christmas.

This is a great pub and restaurant. The food is great and it goes hand in hand with the friendliness of the staff. They source all the food from local businesses which is also a bonus. If anyone is the area it would be a good idea for them to go and try the food because they won’t be disappointed. There is a new large patio area so you can eat outside if the weather is warm enough, or even if you just want to go for a drink. Part of the patio is heated so even if its not too warm you will be ok. And for the pool players this is one of the only pubs in the area with a pool table. And a good one at that. They have a wide range of lager on tap as well as speciality local beers from Yorkshire. Not the cheapest place to drink but a good place to drink with a warm friendly atmosphere. Good for families or drinks with friends.

Since it’s been done out it’s a lovely place to eat and drink. The manager is a nice bloke who often comes to talk to you when it’s quiet. The food is fairly expensive, but very very nice so well worth it

At last, a decent non-indian eating establishment in Baildon! Recently completely refurbished, this public house has successfully shed it’s chavvy, rough, lager-swilling reputation in favour of a brand new, smart, chic, much more upmarket appearance. They take pride in their home-cooked meals, prepared with(admirably) locally-sourced ingredients. They have bar and restaurant areas, both are strangely and liberally sprinkled with an abundance of dried fruit in various containers! The food was modestly priced(warm goat’s cheese salad £7.50), was pleasant and enjoyable to eat and was obviously freshly prepared. But there did seem to be something missing, hard to pin-point what, just didn’t quiet hit the 5-star spot. Maybe a dressing on the salad would have done it?! The banoffi pie was, again, enjoyable but not quite there, pastry a little too hard and squirty cream is a bit of a pet hate for me. I’m sounding unreasonably harsh here, we really did have a very pleasant meal, I’m being pedantic ;) Black Sheep bitter on tap, amongst others. Outside tables don’t have the best view, but nice to sit out on all the same. Anyway, the most remarkable quality this place has to be it’s staff. We were served at our table by the most friendly, enthusiastic, smiley chap I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, a real asset! This place should do well, it’s not in the village centre, but should get passing trade. Will definitely return, when the food might be even more polished.
