I admit, it is odd to be a regular at a restaurant 5000+ miles from home. But my trips to London always include an evening at Shapla. Let’s face it, you can’t throw a dead cat around London without hitting a curry house. Well, this is no curry house. This is a proper Indian restaurant — white table cloths, attentive staff, wonderful savory foods. I’m half Indian, and my father is the best Indian cook I know. The bar is set high every time I step into an Indian restaurant and this place doesn’t disappoint. I do not rate Indian restaurants on the amount of sweat they create on my brow. Heat can be a distraction — to me it’s about complex flavors and how the meal fits together. Like any Indian Restaurant, Shapla can indulge the endorphin junkie, but beyond that, they make food that is flavorful, balanced and comforting. Enjoy!

Great food, lovely ambience, and friendly staff. Very reasonable in price too. Overall a gem of a restaurant!
