Typical carvery mostly full of old dears!,(i’m not ageist). I don’t usually go far carvery type meals. Quite spacious though and I think it has a private room below, fantastic if you like cricket, in season part of the outdoor seating area overlooks the local cricket ground. Virtually next door to an Indian and a Chinese takeway if you want to combine a drink and grab a takeaway on your way home. Excellent location on the Ecclesall Road South, easy access and convenient if you are leaving the City heading towards Hathersage etc.

As the other reviewer has said, it’s your typical Toby Carvery stuff. One thing I have found is that they can be a bit stingy when it comes to giving out Yorkshire puds but a nudge in the right direction usually yields some. The parking can also be a bit of an issue as it shares the car park with the cricket club next door so you might want to avoid going when there’s a match on. They’ll reserve a table for you if you’re in a big party, otherwise, it’s first come, first served. It’s also worth sticking your name down on their mailing list as they’re usually good at letting you know when there’s offers on.

The Toby Carvery is an excellent venue if you fancy a good value meal out where you won’t be left hungry. At certain times of the day, you can get a really good value meal at a bargain price. If you choose to have a carvery over the other menu options, you have the choice between turkey, gammon or beef, or if your cheeky they’ll usually happily give you a bit of each! Once you’ve chosen your meat or vegetarian option, there are a variety of fresh vegetables to choose from, before moving on to gravy and a variety of sauces. If you can still manage to eat more after your initial sitting, you are more than welcome to go back to the carvery and have as many vegetables as you like. If you aren’t stuffed to breaking point after that, the rhubarb Crumble with a bottomless jug of custard is excellent. All in all, it’s always been a good experience and good value for money. The staff are always friendly and helpful, there is plenty of parking and they have a large number of tables so we’ve never had to wait to be seated.
