I really liked this hotel and was very pleasantly surprised! I stayed in late May for three nights while visiting family in the area,. The hotel is conveniently located close to the Sheffield train station. The Winter Garden is right next door, what a treat to stroll through the plant exhibits. The Mercure is right in the center of Sheffield, close to many restaurants and bars. The lobby is spacious and I recommend the Champagne Bar for an evening drink. My room was good. Spacious bathroom and shower. The king size bed is comfortable. There is a kettle with instant coffee and teas replenished every day. No ice machine though which was strange(but not unusual in Europe). TV had 20+ channels, mostly from the UK which was fine. We had a nice view of the town square. Wifi is free and fast. The biggest surprise in the Mercure is their very nice pool, gym, and spa area. You can do laps in this indoor pool. The gym has modern equipment and a separate weight-punching bag room with space for yoga! The spa is great. There are steam and sauna rooms as well as an aroma room and fragrance shower! Locker area is large and clean. A great price at 80 pounds a night. Staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!

This is by far my favorite place to stay at while visiting Sheffield. The staff are top notch, and the rooms are spacious when compared to other locations in this city. The bathroom is very modern and I really like the showers. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of pillows. It’s always clean and the main service does a good, job consistently. The location is also prime as you are just about in the middle of the town center so just about any direction you go, there are several blocks of places to eat and drink. The only item is this place books up quickly so don’t wait until the last minute to make your reservations.

Although the hotel is nice the entrance is very secluded the safe in the room would enter a password or open the mini bar was switched of with nothing in, the air in the room was set to coldest and since you can’t open the windows the air was so hot and it was awe full and impossible to sleep. After trying to use the safe spit continually started bleeping error and we had to go for a drink and come back because it was so load and obnoxious there were no instructions for the power in the room and when you take the card out for the power near the door it switches of so I had to leave it in the TV wouldn’t turn on with the power button and the people at the bar had no knowledge how to make cocktails and are very loaded with alcohol but no skill how to make drinks. It’s somewhere really overpriced due to location and for this reason they stupidly overcharge and it’s the worst hotel I’ve ever slept in highly unrecommended.

I bought my partner a spa day package here for our anniversary. Although it wasn’t particularly cheap, the lunch that we had was really tasty and served in a beautiful setting that is the champagne bar. The treatment that she had she said was enjoyable and very informative. And the spa seem to relax her a lot! I was certainly recommend this as a gift for any loved one.

DONOTSTAYHERE. We stayed here for 5 nights in a suite. Here are my main complaints(not even the minute details). –The room was freezing the entire time no matter how high we turned up the thermostat. It was working, it’s just a shitty system. Cheap, etc. so cold that we warmed up in the bathroom by the towel warmer. –The room had a terrible odor. Just smelled like old food and crusty toes. –One morning we ordered bloody mary’s and the tomato juice was rotten! So gross! –They still knocked on the door to check the mini bar with the«Do not disturb» sign on. — lastly, don’t expect any cocktail knowledge in the building. The lobby bar is very well stocked, but the bartenders collectively had no idea what an old fashioned was. And to top that off, if you’re going to measure every ounce of the whiskey you’re serving me, don’t spill half of it on the bar. Anyway. Save yourself the trouble and money and go somewhere else!!!

St. Paul’s Hotel is Sheffield’s newest and poshest hotel. Situated between the Town Hall and the Winter Gardens, as a matter of fact it actually connects at the rear to the Winter Gardens via large plain glass doorways. The hotel’s main entrance, which is small and unimpressive, faces the Peace Gardens. The hotel’s fees are very expensive, but this can be expected for the high class luxury the hotel offers it’s patrons. Being in the city centre the hotel is within easy reach of bus and rail interchanges, local theatres, bars, nightclubs, cafes, shops, markets.
