The rating is the most difficult bit of this review. It no way reflects the fun I’ve had in this venue, it’s just… I kinda have to be honest and review it as a facility rather than the quality of the individual nights I’ve had here… I will explain. Firstly I should mention I don’t live in Sheffield and have probably been to Corp in the region of 8 to 10 times. Some of those were for gigs, some for club nights and three times for Resistanz festival. It’s relatively easy to find in the depths of Sheffield(situated about 5 minutes from The Moor) and puts on a plethora of gigs and events throughout the year. I actually really like the exterior. It gives the feeling of a dirty warehouse club and is spot on for what you’ll find inside. There are tables outside which come in very useful if you’re at a gig(and the courtyard isn’t open). You can’t take your drinks outside the venue, but this is perfectly fair(as there are plenty of places to stash on the inside of the door). This particular time around, the smell of vomit really hit me as I went in through the dingy corridor. In fact, I had to go straight outside again so as not to be sick myself. I understand that with the cheap drinks prices and the clientele it tends to attract on certain nights that people probably do drink to excess, it’s just never been as bad as any other venue I’ve ever been to(and that includes Snobs in Birmingham!). Once you get used to the smell, you can hit the bar. On a club night the drinks are ludicrously cheap(70p a single vodka and coke)… That is, if you can call it Vodka. I steered clear on my last visit and stuck to the £1.50 cans of Cider(which my body seemed to thank me for). There are 3 rooms inside(side room, main room and upstairs) and each comes with it’s own bar. There is also a separate club area(called Local Authority) attached to the venue and a very large courtyard. Now… If you’re a visitor to this venue, you know I HAVE to mention the state of the toilets. They should come with a health warning, seriously. If you have a toilet seat, a lockable door, toilet roll AND handwash; you are in the minority. Normally you might get a max of two of these essential elements. On a side note, Local Authority seems to actually have half decent toilet areas so the venue really needs to pull it’s socks up on this. The sound can be quite hit and miss for live acts. It’s been excellent for some gigs and terribly poor for others. It can really depend on the sound tech’s whether you get an enjoyable aural experience. However… I guess sometimes it just doesn’t matter. When you’ve had enough 70p vodkas on a club night, you probably wouldn’t notice. Another quick warning; watch your drink! Everyone should always be wary in clubs, but I’ve seen spiking quite prominent on some nights at this venue. The security are actually pretty good and seem to keep an eye on everything, but I guess that says more about the clientele that use this venue on selected nights. Oh! And make sure you take enough cash out with you! There is a cash machine in the venue, but it was charging £2 for withdrawals last weekend(which could really hit you if you’re on a budget). Finally, no goffick’s life would be complete without at least one trip to Corp. I have always had a great time here(despite the toilets and the smell), but that’s largely down to the nights I frequent. Don’t let this review put you off visiting as the atmosphere can be electric(and worth suffering all the other stuff). Go, visit, enjoy and write your own review.

What can I say about Corp? If you’re looking for a classy night out then don’t go to Corp. If you’re looking for a night filled with fun, debauchery and great music then look no further. Not being a local I don’t get to go very often, it’s usually for gigs and(now in its 4th year) Resistanz festival, but I always look forward to it. Yes it’s dirty, yes the toilets look like a scene from silent hill and yes you’re almost inevitably going to wake up the next day with a raging hangover and covered in stale sweat but surely that’s what alternative clubs are all about?!? Did I mention drinks prices? The Corp vodka is, quite literally, the stuff of legend and when on offer is a solid £1.50 for a double and mixer(considering a coke is £1.50 you can guess the quality!). Prices are higher during gigs but still a lot cheaper than your O2 Academy’s and the like. If you’re looking for rock, metal, ebm, industrial, electro and a hell of a lot more then Corp is where you go in Sheffield. And for the obligatory pre club beer(and recovery food the following day) there’s the fantastic Devonshire Cat just up the road!

A very cost effective night out! Good selection of music over three floors and some great live music, a bigger selection of rock tunes wouldn’t go a miss but all in all a quality club night!

I really enjoyed my night out at the Corp. The music was brilliant, the sound spot on and the atmosphere just as good. There were no fights or any trouble. Only downside for me was the toilets, where big boots to stay out of the slime. they’ll also protect your feet on the the enthusiastic dance floor.

First of all, if you live in or around Yorkshire and you love seeing bands(generally Metal, Punk and Hard Rock), this is the place to be! Its main room is a medium-sized hall complete with two bars, toilets and a small but well-positioned stage. It has a great atmosphere and every band I have seen here all sounded brilliant partly due to the in-house sound base and carefully-placed speakers(not to mention very good lighting above the stage good visual effects). There is also a smaller room with a very ol’-school type stage with no barrier good for really brutal in-the-face gigs! The drinks selection is minimal, but prices are OK, the staff are very friendly and overall at every gig I’ve been to here, there is just the right vibe going on. Not to mention many gigs are either sold-out or near full capacity at the ’Corp. It’s location is a little out of the way and the exterior is somewhat aged(inside you really get a feeling that it’s a dirty club — straight out of an old movie), but it is very easily accessible from the centre of Sheffield with good parking, off-licenses, pubs and restaurants etc nearby. Most of the bad reviews I have come across on the net are complaints about the upstairs clubbing area. I’ve never been to club nights at the ‘Corp so I can’t say what it’s like(but there are far better clubbing places in Sheffield if you like that sort of thing). I have no problem with this club at all been many times and its one of my favourites, not just for the great bands(that are often quite pleased to play there), but for the experience of the great night I know I and everybody else attending will get. I can still smell the Red Stripe-soaked floor, synthetic stage smoke and feel the buzz in my ears from the last night I was there! :-) 5⁄5. Haters gonna moan.

Corporation has been my regular haunt since the(shocking) age of 16! I am now 29 and enjoy it just as much now, as I did back then. Its hot, sweaty, dirty and grimey but always full of familiar faces and awesome music! There is a night to suit pretty much every taste and special one nighters, bands and events that you just can’t beat. If you can dare to stomach the famous Corp Vodka, you will be introduced to a new level of poison and despair the day after. But ohhh how we love it! If you are looking for a nice clean night out, don’t bother. If you like it down right dirty and fun, Corp is the place to be! See you in the Dubstep room. ;)

I’ve only been to the Corporation once, but the feeling and atmosphere was tremendous. the staff and management are friendly, beer very good and rather cheap Very high stage, so you get the feeling you’re in an arena when you go there. Warm friendly crowd, and a good time is had by all. Thumbs up

positive points– It’s a large place overall different rooms for different music. There is a burger place outside. negative points– Crap selection on drinks, they don’t even do lemonade! Way way too hot I felt as though I was going to faint because of the heat. They can let too many people in. The quality of the sound can be terrible when seeing bands and the sound engineers don’t usually get the sound right seriously it was aweful.(on 3 occasions) Not a place to have a number 2

It’s a dive club, that’s the point. Don’t go here expecting anything other than dirty floors, cheesy music and possibly illegally-priced drinks and it’s a great night out. If you visit whilst in any way sobre, you’ll want to leave rapidly!

Some would compare this club to a disease infested cesspool. Others would call it utopia. Personally, agitated tattooed teenagers frantically wind-milling to hard, heavy paced deathcore, isn’t my thing. But who gives a monkey funk what I think?

Skool on Wednesday Nights is a must do if you are a student in sheffield. 1 quid to get in when wearing a white shirt and a tie before midnight. and 50p vodka and mixers before midnight. do it the classy way and go for a quad vod ;)

A rabbit warren of a nightclub. It generally caters to the rock/guitar music crowd. A bit of a hot, sweaty night out but friendly atmosphere and comes with free sticky floor. Has a large smoking/car park area which is where many people seem to hang about. Also has regular live bands. A very bog standard drinks list.

The Corp is a rock club with a number of rooms over several floors. It’s very easy to get lost in there, especially after you have had a few drinks!!! Whilst it is predominatly a rock club a varitey of club nights are held there, including the legendary skool disco on a Wednesday night. As you might expect from a rock club it’s a pretty dirty venue, but the atmosphere and the cheap drinks more than make up for this. Gigs are also held in the Corporation, again with a great atmosphere. A must visit venue for all you rockers!

The corporation is one of Sheffields top alternative music venues. Playing mainly alternative rock music it is a great venue to go. There are 2 main rooms, the larger one is more likely to play heavy rock, metal and punk while the other one will play more indie rock based tracks. The drink prices will depend on which day you go, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday being the main clubbing nights. Wednesday is ‘school girl’ night, where everyone who turns up in school uniform gets free entry to the club. If you get chance to see a gig here too i’d certainly advise it as it has a great atomospher!

Raaaaaaaawwk!!! if your a pretty boy/girl, then corp is probably not for you. its dark and its dirty. and it also smells a little bit too. but when JD and coke is £1.50 on a friday night, who gives a sh*t? find your way upstairs to the indie/rock room. awsome! unless your into your heavy rock/emo/screamo thingy, inwhich case, stay down stairs and bounce of the walls :) oh, one more thing, corp can be very hit and miss, especially when the students arent around.

Corporation is the main alternative venue in Sheffield. If you’re into grunge, classic rock, metal, ska punk or indie it’s the club to go to. The pros — friendly bar staff, decent outdoor smoking area, great venue for live music. The cons — drinks are expensive(Mondays are cheap drinks nights) and chances are you’ll have them nabbed by people who call themselves ‘minesweepers’! Blokes toilets are filthy and usually flooded with urine. Nuff said, if you like alternative music there ain’t no other alternative club in Sheffield.

Sheffield Corporation is great! I have been here to watch bands, and i’ve been here to dance a few times. Drinks are cheap, venue is a little scruffy and dirty– but it is a rock club! It attracts students, indie kids, rockers and locals, spread over 2 floors, with lots of rooms and several bar areas. It’s a 10 minute walk from the train station. You can dance all night and leave when it closes, get food and head back to the train station for the 3.45am train to Manchester!
