Let’s be honest about the Chinese food in the UK. As a foodie, I think we can agree that it’s normally awful in comparison to the rest of the world. For what you pay for, the food is … something the rhymes with sap. So I was really surprised when I found, in the middle of Sheffield, this super authentic Chinese restaurant that specializes in Cantonese rice pots and herbal soups. Rice pots, somewhat of a comfort food, are these singular boiled rice bowls with the side dish steaming on top of it. This allows the rice to absorb all the flavors while it’s being cooked. We ordered the classic Chicken and Shitake mushroom rice pot. Herbal soups can be a bit pricey(depending on the ingredients), but worth having a try as the ingredients used in each soup is intended to keep you healthy and flush out toxins. As a Chinese person, I don’t see anything wrong with having bones in my soup, but I can see other people might be put off by it. A lot of «local» people will be confused with what it is, but if you’re adventurous enough to try some yummy Chinese comfort food, I’d highly recommend this place.
