I came in to watch the Lions/Australia second test. Had a breakfast of sausage, egg, bacon, beans, «hashed brown» potato, toast. Decent value. However it was one of those pre-formed hash browns that taste like oil. Nice cup of tea. The grill was broken, so no burgers possible. The Lions loss did not contribute to the review!

A great place for students or for a quick drink after work. The prices are low and they have a DJ every Friday and Saturday night which makes it the liveliest place in town. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is also some pub grub on offer.

What a pleasant surprise! A pub that isn’t obviously part of a Beefeater-type chain, situated in a town centre, which does food, decent beer, and welcomes children(their own menu). And when the food came, with minimal wait, it was piping hot, apparently freshly cooked, and very tasty. My OH had a vegetarian option with a salad that she said was lovely, with a dressing that reminded her of her favourite from years ago. Kids had the usual kids options with chips and the portions were very generous(I’ve seen adults get fewer chips!), as was my fish and chips with peas. With drinks(the bar had a good selection of real ales, by the way), the whole meal came to less than £30 and the whole experience took less than an hour despite us visiting on a busy bank holiday lunchtime.
