Travels and Tapas

If you are interested in great company, fabulous food and wine, and a step back in Spanish Basque country history over 1000 years, Jose of Travels and Tapas is your guide and planner. We enjoyed every minute of the Paradores (castles and other ancient sites that were converted into hotels), the Michelin and otherwise unrated restaurants, and scenic and historical sites along our travels,.
We didn’t have to think or do much but go along for the ride! It was a wonderful one at that!

We traveled the Basque country of Spain with Jose in mid-​October 2015. The tour was a custom tour arranged around our site seeing and dining requests. Jose did a marvelous job with all the arrangements and was even able to accommodate our request for a hike or two through the countryside. He was very easy to work with, totally flexible, and highly knowledgable. We saw sites that we would never have experienced on our own. Highly recommended and would definitely travel with him again.

My wife and I, along with two other couples, spent 8 days in northern Spain in October on a fabulous trip arranged by Jose. He created an itinerary specifically to meet our desires and we visited places that we NEVER would have found on our own. Given that Jose was born and raised near San Sebastian, he knew all the great places to eat, the special sights to see, etc. In addition, he was our driver and guide for the first 5 days.
I worked with Jose over a period of several months to create the special itinerary, and up to the time we were there he was happy to make adjustments for weather and other changes we wanted. We felt the costs were very reasonable, even as he included 2 Michelin restaurants (one 3-​star).
There is no way that a regular tour agency can put together the kind of experience we had based in the efforts of Jose and his gracious wife. I have nothing but praise for Jose!
